I have heard some talk of Timmer being back for the tournament. Does anybody here know if that has any substance?

Yes indeed. PAC ranking RK Team SA SA/S 1 Washington State 191 1.74 2 Washington 184 1.70 And a significant reason for WSU's excellent serving stats is Pia Timmer, their best server. With Timmer, the offensive firepower, serving, and blocking all match up better with the Huskies. Looking forward to this rivalry next year, hopefully with a healthy cast on both sides of the net. Actually the service differential wasn't that big of a deal, ie, SA to SE was +1 for WSU and -1 for UW, so not a big deal there and what you'd expect. Depth is a part of the equation. UW has pin depth (one of UWs strengths going into the tourney), WSU apparently doesn't.

After losing Dalton, it was of course much worse. And then losing Timmer....

It's interesting to think about. How well would a team comprised of the starters Endsley, Bush, Crenshaw and Wilmes fared playing with Bays, EMP and current MBs done this season? Mid-Pac maybe?

Why no Hoffman? I'm looking at non 6-rotation full year pins. None of the aforementioned players carried a full-time load all season at a corner. Something they all could do next season.

My whole point is would you rather have these 4 waiting in the wings with Drechsel and Hoffman being your big guns but going down or would you prefer WSU's backups with Timmer and Dalton going down? Who's depth would you prefer?

I think you may be surprised by the group from UW...just because you dont see it, doesnt mean that they are not working on it. I imagine it would be a little rough to start as you would expect, but with more match reps I think it would smooth out. I bet Sam and Claire didnt pass the way they do now when they first took the floor in that role.

If Timmer is back, I would not want to be a seed in whatever subregional WSU lands in. That's assuming that Timmer would be close to 100%, which is probably a very big assumption.

I'm just grateful that this happened against WSU in a match where the Huskies had too much firepower over four sets. Much better to discover a chink in the armor now than be surprised against an even better team in the tournament. You can bet that Claire will be taking a lot of reps on serve receive in practice over the next week (hopefully two weeks or more) and that she will be very ready when the whistle blows. And yes, Cook will have all options ready. I really think Claire will come through, though. There's also a very short list of teams that serve as well as WSU does. Unfortunately for UW, Texas is one of them!
