When you live in one of the entertainment/tourist capitals of the world, a volleyball match isn’t peoples first choice of activity on saturday night. Also, the tournament always coincides with the end of the quarter at UCLA. Lots of people are studying for finals. I hate this excuse that people use for LA. “There’s so much else you can do”, the Lakers didn’t play, Clippers are in Sacramento, Kings didn’t play, UCLA doesn’t have any other teams playing, USC doesn’t have any teams playing. So this is arguably the only sports event in LA tonight (sorry if i missed a team). Its the end of the semester for most universities. There’s just no atmosphere at the UCLA game. So the lack of fans is just a bad look. Bars, beach, comedy shows, concerts, etc. Here’s a list of 36 things going on in LA this weekend. www.welikela.com/things-to-do-in-la-this-weekend-12-3-2021/Just a different culture.. these Midwest schools have huge followings and it’s embedded in their culture lol. It’s not like that out here.

USC football will sell out again if they can return to dominance. But I don't see the equivalence. Again, I'm waiting for the 'real' reason? It baffles me. I assume it baffles the others. But it is an accurate observation. In a city, I dunno, 30 times the size of Madison and with a student population of very much the same size, Wisconsin draws more fans to the August red-vs-white scrimmage than UCLA draws for an NCAA tournament match. It baffles me. Well there are also 1000 times as many things to do in LA on a Saturday night as in Madison. They should probably be doing better to get students out though.

UCF always gets back into it when May is back row. Why not flip the dial so Melville is in front when May is back row? Actually, I think it was UCF who spun the dial. They chose to start this set with Melville in right-front.

Issa different culture. Dunno why it's so hard to understand. But Pac-12 teams' insistence on playing in 12,000+ seat basketball arenas exacerbates the terrible optics.

this match would be exciting at UCF - better gym, better announcer, more exciting! this guy is so monotone.
plus the graphics suck. show the score and the set score....

I was actually saying UCF might wanna take even more advantage of her being back row by putting Melville up front. But, didn't realize they'd already done that? For some reason?

I sure would like to see some USC matches in their North Gym again! THAT would be fun. I've been in UCF's cute little 'The Venue' too. It's pretty fun for volleyball.

This is the weirdest audio experience. I've got the area sound and the live announcer in the left speaker, and the TV commentator in the right speaker. Talking over each other. So strange.

I don’t think any of the girls playing in the California schools go for the packed crowds watching volleyball. Also the worst traffic leaving a match in Nebraska or Wisconsin matches I assure you is nothing like the traffic in LA, shoot that reason alone may be keeping people home.

UCLA is playing like %*$#. They don't deserve a seed playing like this. Embarrassing.
