I thought Parra served well. But Rice handled it even better.

I am a fan of Parra since day one. Part of me thinks she just had an off night (again), but in the decades I’ve watched UT play I’ve never seen a player close off and collapse psychologically like that. A lot of the players were attempting to be supportive on the court and on the sidelines - but she was clearly in a dark space. It made me think she didn’t really know how stressful these situations are, an I forget how young these ladies are. It takes a special person to be as mentally strong as they may be physically. And now, boy howdy is she THE serving target - if the pressure wasn’t enough before.
I don’t know - I really want her to snap out of it - but man she cost the team a lot tonight and I don’t quite understand why there wasn’t a substitution when so much was breaking down. They were able to compensate last night and tonight on the shoulders of everyone else - but that won’t work with Kentucky or Nebraska.

I expect Jerritt will have a conversation with her and help build her up this week. Certainly doesn't help her confidence that she wasn't reeling off aces behind the line each time these past couple days. We need her at full mental strength this regional weekend. She'll be targeted.

Or just made things worse? Yes, she made some errors and had a bad night - but we had a good margin of error, and as coach, JE probably made a calculated decision: can we afford to lose a set to Rice vs. can we afford to lose Parra for the rest of the tournament mentally. He knows his players better than VTers. Yes, it would be great if the entire team was composed of Honey Badgers. But some of them are mere mortals. Ya'll act like anything less than a total beat-down of the opposing team is a failure. Take a beat - even with the errors, we still swept Rice. This was a solid win. The tournament is a pass-fail test. You move on just the same, whether you win sets by 2 points or 20...

I need a YouTube replay! Couldn’t watch any of the matches because I’m out of the country 🥲 Anyone have this?

Several Texas posters seem to enjoy sulking in the negative plays, and just won't allow themselves to enjoy the overall team victory. Facing controversy and being challenged is good for this team; don't want to be a victim of complacency, and everything coming easy. There is never going to be a perfect match (individually or collectively). When there are struggles, it's all about improving the next opportunity.

Yep, and Graham is so smart with her plays. I know Lennon is graduating but if Graham and Adekunle come back hopefully Rice can stay relevant for a while longer.

Nope. Waiting for it as I have a disagreement with my spouse over calls at the end of the second set and in the third set where it was 9-8. Both had challenges by Rice. Watched the replay on ESPN.com last night. The touch call to give us the 2nd set, IMO was inconclusive on the video replay. Paul & Salima said they both thought there was a touch, but you could not clearly see it. I will say the line judge who made the call was visible in the replay video and you could see her lined up directly behind Skylar looking straight on at the play. She was not out of position to make the call. In the 3rd set; Logan's kill, that Volpe thought was out and challenged, was in. She's going to be very embarrassed when she watches the replay. The entire ball was in bounds. It wasn't even a case of the ball barely nicking the line.

And replay shows it was out (in my mind), but the touch was a touch. You could see multiple fingers of the Rice blocker move. And for the ball going to the side with the challenge, I was sitting in the upper seats and it happened almost in front of us. From that angle it sure looked out. Plus the multiple Rice players jumping and saying it was OUT had me convinced it was out or at least someone had deflected it out. But the replay shows it was very much in. Odd how visually, live it can look so out and be so in.
