I tried to jinx the Purdue sets 2 and 3 letdown, but I failed. Stop it, dang it!

Today was the 7th fifth set for Purdue
It was the second for BYU and the first since early Sept. vs Weber St.
There is something to be said for the stress-testing rigors of a B1G schedule.
Learning how to breathe
Control you anxiety and heart rate
Rely on the experience from previous 5th set triumph and heartbreak
Be willing to not play safe/scared/tight.
Just before BYU libero's oft mentioned gaffe she made a great pass to get to 14-10, no? Was her errant pass on the next play simple & routine? She was moving forward anticipating tip and the roll shot was above and behind her. The overhand bump went into the net. Yes, let's excoriate her.
The propensity to assign blame and label unsuccessful play as a choke is odious.
BYU had any number of rejections of Newton at the left pin. Was Newton choking?

I don't know, they seemed to breathe ok, control their anxiety and heart rate and relied on experience to get to a 14-10 lead. |

So, if I send over a free ball and the libero flubs it, do I get a kill? Guess there is no stat for digging errors, even free balls? Yep. That's a kill for Cleveland. That play is just horrible to watch. Great serve causes a misconnection on the set.. and BYU completely screws it up. I think they got three free-balls in the 5th and just completely screwed up all of them. One hit out early by BYU middle, that play at 14-10, and the other just didn't convert. |

Find it funny, looking into past sweet 16 matches that have entertained me like this one. One of my all time favorite matches, BYU at Texas in 2016. BYU always finds itself in these amazing five set thrillers and lead late in the match to fall miserably. wow
