Is there somewhere we can watch that DN vs TAV 17s? Must have been a stressful match!

In other news, A5 takes Florida Fest 18 Open with their second qualifier win over Houston Skyline. The scores were close.

You're correct. My bad. Vital 18-1 finished 2nd in their pool on the first day of Chicago (after being seeded next to last) but didn't make it to the gold round on Monday. They lost in the silver final to Legacy.
That said, while I don't know much about them at all, awesome to see another MN club making their presence known on the national scene.
To say they've kind of come from "out of the blue" would be a bit of an understatement.

That Vital team was impressive last year as 17s despite the lack of name recognition. I think they were able to snag a few big, athletic players from other clubs and it really took them to the next level of competing in Open.

Eazy, with all due respect, I don't believe that's the case.
Not sure who the new "big, athletic players" are from other clubs, but I only know one name on their roster.
In the past, Vital also has a rep for putting their top teams in lower divisions in Orlando in June.
Pretty sure this is new territory for them. Great to see.

The Vital 17-1 squad last year had two girls previously from Northern Lights and two girls previously from Select join their ranks. This year two girls from M1 came over to help elevate the 18-1's team. These two combined with the homegrown talent of the Vital girls makes them a formidable team. Their court should be fun to watch this weekend.

They are a very strong team.

Taking a set off a tough team doesn't hold much currency.

Do you think that good losses and bad losses are weighted equally? Or losing "well" to a highly ranked team is the same as a loss to to a bad team?

I'm not sure how any of that is taken into consideration but I'd be surprised if someone said' "Well Team X took a set off of Team Y so let's give them a high seed at a Qualifier." If it were me I would look at who a Team has played and what that Team's win loss record is. Then I would look at the quality of opponents faced, but I'm not deciding my rankings on whether a team took a set off of another Team.

True, but when comparing against teams with similar records, it might have weight, for me, what those losses were and to whom =)
