I've always marveled at how two clubs from San Diego (Wave and Coast) can remain so competitive year in and year out. Is it that San Diego has all that volleyball talent? Or are these two very well run clubs with good coaching? Or a little of both? What other cities have two clubs competing almost every year for top ten status in almost every age group? Kansas City. For a small market, they produce a ridiculous amount of volleyball talent.

In no particular order; Sunshine LA, Club V, Wave, Coast, Circle City. I think 1st Alliance is in there in the top 3. 2 qualifier wins .. 1 over CC. Top 3 finish at Triple Crown with its only loss to Drive. Don't count out the Tx teams either.. they tend to pull it together when its time. GJNCs are always a bit of a crap shoot. Anyone can win. Seeding and pool draws , crossovers, add the intangibles of momentum, injuries (pray for none of those), sickness, exhaustion, etc.
It could just as easily be 1st Alliance, A5, TAV, Skyline, and Drive Nation =)

I understand that they keep more teams alive longer, but it’s brutally unfair to make teams who’ve dominated pool play have to play a day 3 elimination match against a team who’s struggled but may be super dangerous. Last year in 15U Open, Dynasty was undefeated in pool but had to play the #1 seed in the tournament (Wave) in their day 3 challenge match, while some teams who’d barely survived the day 1/2 pools had easy crossover opponents. Dynasty won in a three set war, but NEVER should have been put in that position. I think they should stick with the qualifier format and just keep playing pools until their are 8 teams left for final day brackets. My two cents.

I agree, seems like the crossover should be a second chance for 2nd and 3rd, but going undefeated in pool play and then having to play 1 match, winner takes all??!!
