Purdue is one of the weirdest teams.
It's like they don't realize they can be a great team until they're forced to.

I wish these two teams weren’t playing each other right now - it would be an awesome final match. It would be great to see one of these teams take the whole thing.

I like Pitt a ton and Ndee is so fun to watch but I’m going with Purdue in a close 5 sets. They’ve been up and down but have shown such grit when staring down nearly impossible odds. Otec is a fantastic libero, Bush is a good setter and Newton and Grace are baller pins. I also like what I saw from Purdue’s middle attack down the stretch against BYU. I would not be surprised to see a Pitt in 3, 4 or 5 though. This team is spunky and if playing well can beat anyone. The best part about this match is it will produce a new final four team! Purdue was staring down impossible odds against equally streaky teams- Pitt had shown themselves to not be as streaky |

I will say Pitt has been crapped on for seeding but I don't know what threads you've read that Purdue has gotten recognition. They've been dragged a many of times over th years. Sometimes, rightfully so, sometimes not. Just like Pitt. My point is you can want Pitt to win because they're Pitt and great, but it's not like they're playing Texas or Nebraska here. They're playing another team that has been doubted too. Beating Purdue doesn't necessarily win them those accolades they probably deserve. The same if Purdue wins. what? Purdue gets picked to win and more respect over SO many teams because they are from the big ten. Pitt gets WAY more doubt bc they arent a big ten team Pitt gets the doubt because they have a history of failing once they get to the tournament. Purdue teams have rarely if ever been hyped to make it all the way the same way. |

Plus, and not being a jerk, just stating facts, Purdue just beat the team that was Pitt's best win this year on a neutral court (I go with Pablo over RPI, based on years of results). Not throwing shade to a very good BYU team, but that is a fact. That indicates the regional final could be very interesting. |

I still hate this bracket. PSU blew it, then BYU blew it. Who's next? I don't think anyone smart would take PSU, BYU, or Purdue for granted. Kansas pushed Texas to 5 once. Good Purdue is fearsome, not just because they beat my favorite team twice, they also ended a losing streak in Minneapolis that dated for a couple decades against a team now in the final 8. |
