This one is tough to call. Can the freshmen of Nebraska continue to shine, or will the more veteran group of Pitt take it. I'm leaning Pitt, but this one is a toss up for me. The Nebraska defense is tough to vote against, but defense alone can't win this. The pins have to continue to fire. Texas couldn't stop them. Can Pitt? If the freshmen of Nebraska don't shine, we always have Kubik, Caffey, and the almighty Stivrins. I think Batenhorst (didn't know she was a native of Texas) goes over the Pitt block, and Krause is a champion (Omaha Skutt HS won 4 championships with her) and will find a way, her confidence these last few weeks has been through the roof. GO BIG RED! Ally's parent's roots are Nebraska!

So out of 119 voters in this thread, 57% of them think Nebraska will win. Pitt has a 30-3 record with SOS rank of 2. Neb has a 25-7 record with SOS rank of 8. The expectations of people on this board are a mismatch with this season's results. I must conclude that the great many Husker fans here have let their excitement override rational thinking. NE is a young team starting 3 freshman. They have been improving as the season progressed. So the 7 losses don't mean much. NE optimism is based in part on improving play by the freshman hitters Batenhorst and Krause. Will they continue to perform at recent levels? We'll find out Thursday night. If they don't, there is Sun and Laenstein that are also very capable. Also NE has the best back row defense in the country IMO, including freshman Rodriguez, who makes unreal digs to the setter box and is also a very good OOS setter.

So what you're saying here, is that Nebraska relies heavily on freshman, which tend to get "schooled" by older and more experienced opposing players, like Pitt has.

We'll know Thursday, but it didn't work that way for TX. Yep, this NE fan is optimistic.

I think it'll be a close one.
Pitt hasn't seen the level of serve/defense that Nebraska brings.
Nebraska hasn't seen a 6-2 as good as Pitt's.
It'll be a good one.

From what I've seen, when it's in system the quick Pitt offense is scarily effective. If Nebraska's serve can't keep Pitt out of system, the fantastic Husker defense will half a step behind/late.

One thing that will be different is Pitt will pass much better than Texas did Ok, I'll bite. How will it be different or better? Getting any team OOS is a tough handle and though I haven't seen Pitt play this year, I can imagine it would affect them too. If you have other insight into Pitt's passing, I'd like hear it since I don't watch Pitt ever. Texas passing in the tournament- 1.69 Pitt passing in the tournament- 2.14

Haven't really seen much of Pittsburgh other than playing Purdue this weekend, Nebraska leads 13-0 h2h. I hope the Panthers play their best game and hope Huskers remain cool and calm. GO BIG RED !!! Purdue was 11-0 all time before this weekend vs Pitt

Ally doesn't even need to go over the block.. Most of her success against Texas was from tooling really well.
When she gets a ball high enough, she can...
When its low and she has to drop her arm/rush her swing... she gets blocked, a lot.

As has been mentioned about 5 times already, many people here have never seen Pitt play or only saw them this past weekend for the first time. Add in the overwhelming number of Neb vs Pitt fans on the board and a random meaningless poll and there ya go. It's no different from the L'ville/Wis thread/poll
