had less to with skt than the elite hitters and passers tho y'all act like these hitters are gods or something...Saige deserves more respect. yes she has her troublesome moments but she usually gives her hitters very hittable balls within the Texas second-step tempo that allow them to use their power and athleticism to get those impressive kills. Saige has troublesome moments just like every setter in America. If we’re willing to overlook Mac’s- you know what? Never mind. Beautiful gowns. Beautiful gowns.

I don’t think she’s the best the best setter and she’s had her moments (1st 2 sets of Kansas) but her decision making and location has been 3rd team AA worthy. And since people want to throw in other stats, her ability to score at the net and her serve game certainly makes her worthy of 3rd team selection. And while she isn’t a great blocker she’s not a liability either.

The difference is with setting, your judged partially on other people’s behaviors as well. It’s a thankless job imo but I’m pretty biased as a setter I guess.

It’s the digging and passing that gives her improved options to set highly terminal hitters. She’s a very good setter, don’t get me wrong - she’s not elite IMO - but she’s very good. I’ll save you repeating myself why. No I won’t. She’s slower comparatively to the top setters in the country. If there’s a weak link it’s her ability to a chase a ball and get under it early - she’s not a sprinter - but some other aspects of her skills are exceptional. IMO honorable mention is fair for a very good setter on an overall elite team (maybe even a little generous). so the year we had O’Brien, which is the year your darling Gabriel was third team AA, she probably should’ve just been HM at most? My “darling” setter is Debbie Green-Vargas, silver medalist from our 1984 Olympic team, then Mary Jo Peppler and Ruth Lawanson (all of whom I’ve met except MJP - so if someone has a connection let’s make that happen please. My darling setter from Texas is Chloe Collins followed by Michelle Moriarty. We’re really lucky to have a setter like SKT that can reverse the flow with ease. That’s a high level skill that isolates our guns and isn’t fully appreciated often (enough?) by commentators. She seems also very open to feedback and coaching and she’s low drama - that goes far. Gabriel on the other hand was more ….colorful. They each have their pros and cons - but ounce for ounce Gabriel had better setting skills and abilities IMO - but I suspect she was a handful. 😂 I do miss that chihuahua energy.

After Gabriel cussed Elliott out in public, I’m sure he didn’t submit her name to the committee. That’s why she got left off that one year.

Jhenna saying she left because of VolleyTalk. we all know it’s because her and Jerritt would’ve been pulling and yanking each other’s hair on the sideline. and that’s a battle Jhenna would NOT win!🤣
