I guess I am SO LATE but who is Carissa Barnes? I have never heard her name before. Is she going to take the lib position next season? Possibly Akana or Halter? I think I'm just so used to Texas taking big names, like earlier this season I was just so in shock with all the names they were pulling in. Libero from A&M Corpus Christi, top 15 in the nation in d/s, top 10 in total dogs, and I think they mentioned she’s pretty high up in her passing rating and libero of the year in her conference… Also I don’t think that black jersey was going to anybody else besides Halter next year…

I’m really trying to wrap my head around the setter who set their team to the highest hitting percentage by FAR not getting on a team. Because it’s the defense that makes her obtain that %. what? what would our defense have to do with hitting percentage? unless you mean the littles in general and are referring to our passing, which is inherently an offensive skill, not defensive.

I made two posts with some cool stats, plus someone else posted her dig per set numbers on that page as well

Think he’s tryna say the fact that our littles get digs, it gives the opportunity for her to set??? Idk exactly why that’s a factor in her setting?😭

It’s the digging and passing that gives her improved options to set highly terminal hitters. She’s a very good setter, don’t get me wrong - she’s not elite IMO - but she’s very good. I’ll save you repeating myself why. No I won’t. She’s slower comparatively to the top setters in the country. If there’s a weak link it’s her ability to a chase a ball and get under it early - she’s not a sprinter - but some other aspects of her skills are exceptional. IMO honorable mention is fair for a very good setter on an overall elite team (maybe even a little generous).

I’m really trying to wrap my head around the setter who set their team to the highest hitting percentage by FAR not getting on a team. It’s the Texas grading curve. Any Texas setter loses points because the assumption is anyone can set Texas to a high %. Agreed!

I’m really trying to wrap my head around the setter who set their team to the highest hitting percentage by FAR not getting on a team. It’s insane actually. And I’ve been ranting about this since the Hannah Allison era, so I’ll spare you. But the idea that any old body can set Texas’ arms is insane. See Nebraska and Wisconsin for further evidence. It’s just a lazy way to discount someone who is simply doing a great, if not flashy, job.

Jhenna should’ve been honorable mention (at least) every year she started outright. Y’all are right, this curve is ridiculous. How was the year we finished third in HP the one she made a team?! And not the ones we finished first?!
