I'm so nervous I'm gonna puke I was ok until I saw the full replay of Stanford-USD. Blossom was nails. I’m nervous as f now. Just remember the two sets Stanford won were 25-19, 25-19. And they had their chances to win the whole match. Texas is demonstrably better than Stanford. It doesn't matter at this point who the opponent is. They're all going to be really good. That said this San Diego team is playing really well right now, and they have legitimate elite pieces in Frohling, Edwards, Lukes, Blackwell, and Benbow. Plus the only 1st team AA setter in the country in Blossom. They average 2.8 blocks per set. They are hitting machines, with an extremely balanced attack. They have ferocious back row attacks, especially from Lukes. They run the slide attack about as often as Texas does. But it's like Logan said. If Texas plays their game, serves tough and gets good passes/digs to SKT, Texas will be a very tough out no matter who the opponent is. If San Diego wins it's a legitimate upset. So just have to be playing our A game for 3 sets. I'm still nervous as all get out, but there's reason for confidence, too.

Other than failing to post the score for the Iowa State match on their IG account - which will go down as a crime against humanity the likes of which we haven't seen on the North American continent since the days of mass human sacrifice in Central America - the Texas Volleyball social media account has been nails. I don't know who runs that, but they need their salary doubled. Nothing exudes the whole Texas attitude better. Jerritt Elliott was a bit long winded. Who does that? Who? Texas volleyball social media, that's who.

I haven't seen this goofy of a one person crusade since The Man of La Mancha. "To dream, the impossible dream!" Windmills versus social media accounts posting up scores of losses. Tough call.

It's been one person, and if you look at their posting history the vast majority of their posts are about Texas. I don't know what their affiliation with Texas is, or how strong it is, because they make some odd posts about Texas for sure, but I can say with a great deal of confidence they want to see Texas win even more than they want to see scores of losses posted on IG.

Texas is demonstrably better than Stanford. Demonstrably? Demonstrated by us being in the Final Four or handily sweeping them at the beginning of the year? Definitely the latter. That was also our most complete game. I realize it's not an end all be all measurement, but for me it does qualify for the "demonstrably better" category.

But none of that matters now, execution is the only thing that matters now. Serve Receive Set

I wonder what the serving strategy will be tomorrow. Obviously aggressive, but to what level? Do we stay at the level of aggression we’re at and force them to pass around a 1.8-2.0 the whole game? Then we sort of risk Blossom making those seem like 3s, but it makes it MUCH harder still of course.
Orrrr do we ramp it up even more and accept some extra service errors, making sure we’re racking up some aces and forcing a lot of OOS sets from the lib/DSs??
Probably start with the first, and if Blossom shows us she’s gonna be a magician with those 1-2 passes, we ramp it up. Make Logan and Asjia serve with even more pace, throw Parra in there, etc.

Not a big deal. Not a crusade. Merely the expression of my opinion that it was really weak for the IG account -- after weeks of in-your-face posts after wins -- to do a total run-and-hide after one loss. "Nothing to see here, let's just move along." As if we are so jittery and fragile that a single mid-season road loss Must Not Even Be Acknowledged by the IG account. But yes I have been to virtually every UT home match for over a decade and I do indeed fervently hope they win it all this year. But if they don't, I also hope that the IG account doesn't act like the match never happened.
