I’m gonna be honest, I don’t want to see a 5-2. If we aren’t running a 6-2, then I just want a 5-1 with SKT at the point.
Also note on SKT’s blocking, according to volleymetrics, she had the highest good block touch percentage and the lowest tool rate of any player with over 50 block touches on the year. I feel like the eye test told me she got tooled more than that but I think I often just made it a point in my head when it happened because we put her in to block.

I think it was hard for SKT to get into a rhythm blocking bc she was inserted at random times. I don’t think a 5-2 is that bad, but if I had to pick a setter to go with it would most definitely be SKT just because she uses all of her hitters front and back row.

I thought she was an excellent blocker by eye. not surprised by that stat.

You probably thought she was getting tooled, but the stats are telling you jt was whoever was next to her that got the bad touch.

I don't either, watching her (when she actually plays a set) she impresses me with some of the sets she makes, and her ability to make something out of nothing! I think it was one game where one of our blockers poked the ball up coming down, and she set the ball to the pin from area 1 before I could even realize what happened!

Does anyone have a subscription to hooked.com? There’s an article written about what texas needs to do in 2022 and I can’t read it until I have a subscription. If anyone does could they give provide some insight to what the article says?

If the Fleck speculation is true. 5-1 w/ SKT. Phillips/O’Neal in the middle. Fields on the right w Gabriel as DS. Eggleston/Parra on left with Iosia as DS for Parra after she serves. This lineup is the ticket imo

Watching her in person she’s a much better athlete than I remember seeing in Utah but I wasn’t paying that much attention. She could easily be an OH with her athleticism somewhere.

I believe it is either gonna be a 5’2 or a 5’1 because a 6’2 would take away the ability to run the slide consistently and with that said I hope SKT and o’neals connection continues improving because that one slide she ran with asjia during one of the Kansas games was probably the best thing I have ever seen lol

When she she’s the MB not paying attention or cheating she’s athletic enough get a kill consistently f we can pass so she’s not 10 feet off the net. IMO her ability gives you the third front row attacker just like a mobile QB gives you the extra runner defenses have to account for. I’m Jhenna’s biggest fan/defender it will be interesting.

If anyone does could they give provide some insight to what the article says? Do you really think the Hookem staff have any better insight than the Horn fans on this board? Not saying I wouldn’t mind reading it just go read it but when I can make out the questions from press conference I wouldn’t expect anything not already discussed.

I know that some of the players or VT'ers refer to Texas as MBU. Thinking back, yeah Jerritt does go all out on MB's which contribute the consistent blocking abilities of Texas.
In this last year of Brionne, I think of her first two years of playing where she was constantly being called for net violations. She just didn't know how to handle her frame near the net of the faster college game. The one thing that she had going for her was her size and arms. Well, duh right. But if you're a long time follower of the Horns like I am, you'll remember we had a few failed MBs.
A colleague of mine at work used to work as a line judge for UT's games. His wife is a former Texas player from Mick Haley's days. He would give me insights about the team. When I asked about why various MB's seem to lose playing time or transferred out of the program after 2 years, his response was "slow legs". Harsh, but yeah I seem to recall them sometimes being just a bit late to the block.
I'm excited about Singletary because of her size and hitting potential. But yeah, a one year RS would help her get up to college speed and conditioning. I'm not sure she could supplant Asjia or Molly as a true freshman.
