I'd add geography and television to the mix. And they're both connected.
A lot of the best PAC12 Volleyball on Friday evenings is played at 6p or 8p. That's 9p and 11p Eastern time. (Not to mention volleyball's obsession with playing Sunday afternoon games head-to-head with the NFL, the greatest ratings juggernaut in the history of television.)
And then there's the PAC12 network itself. There are a lot of talented people who work at the network, but the on-air product is second-tier, at best, compared to B1G network, or LHN, or Hawaii broadcasts.
And, sure, television coverage shouldn't impact the committee, but some of these matches with a mostly single-camera view really fail to capture the quality of play.
Just my $1.36 (2 cents adjusted for inflation).

My gut reaction is that other schools and leagues have gotten better, especially the B1G and the ACC, while the Pac (with the exception of the great Stanford NC teams) has not. There does seem to be more parity this year, at least that's what my gut says. The LA schools are down and have been down. PAC had 3 traditional powers, grew to 4 with UW under JMac and a healthy tier of often-elite teams to challenge them in UO/Cal/AZ. Two of the traditional powers have fallen off a cliff. That hurts the Conference.

Poll voters seem to be much more forgiving of Big10 teams losing than Pac12.

Poll voters seem to be much more forgiving of Big10 teams losing than Pac12. 15-20 years ago the prevailing attitude was "but the PAC is so good, losses have to be forgiven". Now that sentiment has shifted to the B1G.

There does seem to be more parity this year, at least that's what my gut says. Since 2014, UW is 3-4 when playing Utah at Salt Lake City. It's a rat trap, especially for flatlanders who normally play near sea-level. Pullman is also a rat trap (UW is 0-3 in Pullman since 2018), but for different reasons. UW can do well when recruiting regional athletes who can compete nationally, but struggles to bring top national recruits to Seattle (The Far Corner). Even if we do a great job of "coaching up" our athletes, we'll be at a disadvantage when it comes to raw physical talent when going up against national recruiting powerhouses such as Texas, Stanford, Nebraska, etc. Their "less from more" is still better than our "more from less". Although it has yet to affect UW, the Portal threatens to turn the Pac, except for Stanford, into a glorified "farm" league.

Looks like she’s out for the year, I’m sure she’ll use her Covid year to make up for it

These many injuries remind me of 2017. We had a heavy senior class (Schwan, Scambray, Jones, Tanner, DeHoog, Finau, and Hazelwood). Jones injured right before the season started. Hazelwood was injured for most of the season. Tanner broke her finger in the middle of the conference play.
This year, we have a senior class of 5 players (EMP, Hoffman, Crenshaw, Cole, and Grote). Cole decided to medically retire before the season starts. Crenshaw broke her pinky, Endsley injured against Stanford, and now Bush sprained her ankle.
It starts feeling like a curse... lol
I hope the team has a better finish this year than 2017.

what a disappointing second half of the season. At this point, we need to be worried about just making the tournament! And *if* we do, lets use it as a clean slate to take out some names!

So the Huskies get TCU in the first round in Madison. No complaints here -- they are the 8 seed in the Madison regional and that's just about where they should be. I'm sure a few fans in Madison are experiencing PTSD from that visit the Huskies made to Madison what, five or six years ago? You know, the one where we won two matches against a Badger team that had very few losses that season.
Assuming the Huskies can get past TCU -- they should -- I'm very confident nothing like that is going to happen this time, barring a return of Maria Bogomolova. Maybe she could serve 25 straight? I watched the Badgers dismantle Nebraska on Friday to win the B1G. They are a very legit threat to win it all this year.

It was 2019; it hadn't even crossed my mind; and that Badger team won the Big Ten and played for the national championship, losing to Stanford in the final.

Looking ahead and replying to a post I saw, I think a solid OH from the portal would be great. Would UW go after Anna Dixon?
