Is there such a thing as job security for assistant coaches? They can get fired by their head coach, and get fired when the head coach gets fired, a double whammy. Well anyone can get fired, I’m of course talking about the head coach being in a secure position.

280K and hasn't had a 20 win season as a head coach. and is 38-112 in B1G play between the 2 stops. With the trajectory of overall record going the wrong way at Indiana Year 1: 16-15 Year 2: 14-19 Year 3: 5-15 *COVID year (B1G play only) Year 4: 10-22

It’s also what assistants do when they’re looking for job security. Is there such a thing as job security for assistant coaches? They can get fired by their head coach, and get fired when the head coach gets fired, a double whammy. Depends who you are. I don't think Brent Hilliard had to worry about getting fired at San Diego, for example.

Having your assistant coaches poached by "bigger" programs, is usually a sign of a healthy program. The fact that these "bigger programs" are in the same conference is a whole different problem.

I think it’s more of ties/relationship to Penn State for him, and the fact that she’s Krista Vansant for her; than it is Indiana is a healthy program. Both great coaches I’m sure, but their connections/names are helping them here, not the fact that they’ve done great things at Indiana.

Anxious to see who he replaces the departed ACs with. There are interested and qualified coaches that are interested in coming to Btown. Who he brings in will be an indication of the vb program's needs.

It’s a tough sell for anyone who is really good and in a good job IMO

It’s to my understanding that Steve was under a fairly large internal investigation at Indiana during the late part of the season and well into December. I was told that either their AD or SWA informed the team recently that not enough evidence was presented to give cause for removal (aka...we aren’t going to remove him and pay the nearly $1 million in a contract buy-out since he is making fantastic money and has three years left on his contract). The level of investigation and/or allegations (which I’m not sure what they were) could’ve swayed both Krista and Dan to separate themselves from him as soon as possible.

SWA = Student Welfare Association? It stands for Senior Woman Administrator.
