Saw Crawford went to Wisconsin, which is puzzling given their depth at MB (Robinson, Smrek, Hart) but I'm sure they'll turn one RS. Feeling more optimistic about Hord.

So is Kelly Hunter looking to stay in coaching? I know Cook has said he likes ex-players to go elsewhere for a time before looking at bringing them back to NE as an assistant. He does say that a lot. But I wonder if he means that “going away” should be as a coach elsewhere or as a player. Kelly went overseas to play before joining the staff. At this point, surely she’s proved herself of joining the staff full-time. The fact that she spent the entire season on the bench close to John signaled to me that she was considered to be a full-time assistant despite her title.

From my understanding you apply for a medical redshirt after you’ve exhausted eligibility. So that’s an issue down the road if they want to pursue it. Maybe she’ll be an All-American and ready to play pro by then? Didn't Hunter and Stivrins get theirs right away? I may be wrong but I think both Hunter and Stivrins were regular redshirts, not medical

Does anyone know if they used a medical redshirt this year for Orr? I can't think they wouldn't have used her at some point in the year if this wasn't the case. From my understanding you apply for a medical redshirt after you’ve exhausted eligibility. So that’s an issue down the road if they want to pursue it. Maybe she’ll be an All-American and ready to play pro by then? The Big Ten 'handbook' from a couple years ago says you must wait until the end of the season during which the injury occurred before you submit the application, and the school is "encouraged" to make the submission prior to the start of the succeeding season.

What do others see for Whitney at Nebraska?
Personally, I think she has more upside than Batenhorst but if Krause/Batenhorst remain in front of her, I don’t see any meaningful playing time…And that is before these next recruiting classes come in. Playing time is going to be hard to come by.
I won’t be surprised to see one of those three in the transfer portal at some point as one of them is going to be on the outside looking in…and either 3 could be starters on a majority of teams.

IMO, this question is about a year early.

I don't think this question can even be answered by the time the season starts. I suspect there will be more shuffling when fall season begins next year, just like this year. Both Kubiks, Batenhorst, Krause, Lauenstein... Good problem to have. I know the recruits are also all early enrollee's, so they'll have spring as well. I don't foresee Madi losing her OH position. The rest are in the air. Backrow should remain the same, so you only need 3 rotations from the other 2 pins..

While she has never hit for the greatest of percentages, she does have the ability to play the entire game at a high level. For someone who takes so many swings, she’s also displayed great fitness and conditioning. I can’t say I’ve ever seen her completely fizzle out energy wise.

I think, too, if we can get some consistency at the other pin positions, her numbers will go up. Opposing teams knew she was the go to option when OOS. Her numbers should go up as the others' go up.

Agree on all counts. Also think her leadership will be essential.

I agree. Kubik has to be one of the most impressive NCAA pins in terms of going at a block and attacking the edges. She is not unstoppable but she seems to find a variety of ways to deal.

We never get stuck with Madi in the front row this year, even though she's not always hitting for a great %. She takes hard aggressive swing and one out of every 3 or 4 is gonna go down for sure.

And she has played her entire career with setting that was inconsistent at best. I’m excited to see her play with Orr. If Orr lives up to her billing, Kubik is going to have a very good year.
