I hate the entitled fans, I hate John Cook, and it’s kinda fun just to have someone to root against. Like a villain. And how do you feel about Texas? A two second scan reveals he hates Texas too… unless they’re playing Nebraska.

YaDaYaDa...Some opposing fans just like to bad mouth NE and Coach Cook, and make it up as they go. An alternate reality they create for themselves. Why? Not sure but envy comes to mind... I mean it’s fine to want to rewrite history. Don’t blame you there. But the facts are (mostly) out there already, so no use re-litigating things. It’s NOT fine to rewrite history, which is why I’m calling you out.

If I may ask, why do you dislike the program? Im new around these parts, so forgive me for not knowing the nuances of why you dislike the Nebraska Volleyball program I hate the entitled fans, I hate John Cook, and it’s kinda fun just to have someone to root against. Like a villain. I get it. Completely. My wife and I live part time in Austin (for both of our jobs) and we have a lot of dear friends who are UT supporters. We all respect each other, especially when it comes to the support of our teams. We went with a few of them last year when Nebraska beat UT in the tournament. We got spit on (yes, literally) when leaving the match by several UT fans from the student section. That was eye opening and definitely put a bad taste in our mouth for the UT fanbase. But then we realized later (because of our close friends) that those students who spit on us, are not the be-all-end-all representation of the UT fanbase. The reality is that every fanbase has wild/rabid fans like that who take it too far.

Kelly Hunter did the post game radio interview last night and it kind of sounded like Nicklin might play tonight. I think she said something like "maybe we'll see her a little bit"

Krause looked really good in 6ro on the left pin. And Mendelson looked scary on the right and was ripping balls OOS. Going back to Cook's philosophy, he talks about wanting to "suffocate" teams. This line-up looked by far the best way to do that last night. Batenhorst does not have a lot of room to make errors anymore. Krause will ball out next year if we can get consistent setting. She'll be on the left full time. She's still the best offensive weapon we've had in practice (charted better than everyone including Whitney), but all her moving around and mediocre in-game setting has hamstrung her productivity. The coaches have felt bad about it in private, but they've also needed her to do those things for the team which she has without complaints. That's why Cook has publicly lauded her team-first mentality.

I mean it’s fine to want to rewrite history. Don’t blame you there. But the facts are (mostly) out there already, so no use re-litigating things. Papers in NE basically said that Cook thought Caffey was coming back and had the NIL stuff sorted out to pay for things. They couldn't afford a scholarship for her as it was going to cost them 2 in the end. I am sure Caffey saw it a different way, seemed like Cook thought Caffey had it handled, Caffey maybe felt like it wasn't hers to deal with. In any case, based on the papers, Cook not only wanted her back, but expected she was coming back well into August. It wasn't about having to many scholarships, they had one available for her, but the NCAA ruling changed how they could use it. By that time Akuna was already in Austin. Akuna was different, that was more about the number of scholarships available and expected playing time. End of it the Akuna deal hurt NU more than Caffey. Alick had a great freshman year to cover the MB spot, but with Orr unable to claim the setting job, it moved Hames back to setter. Then the late season injuries to Knuckles and now Hames, the DS position is where NU lacks depth. But I do think people on this chat are crossing the 2 players. The expectation for NU was for Hames to play the 2nd DS spot and thus no place for Akuna in the rotation. Expectation was Caffey was coming back on a NIL deal, at least until she wasn't. At least how I understood it. Debating it now is pointless. I haven't written NU off yet. If Hames can't go and we get Oregon next week, will be a great match. Will deal with the next one after that. Kansas is a threat tonight for sure. So have to get through them first.

We played and looked better than last weekend. Should be a good match tonight. Our defense is strong and blocking will keep us alive, for how long, I have no clue.

In more important news… Nicklin is cleared to play tonight
Edit: which doesn’t mean she will! Just good news for her and the long term prospects for the team

I hate when ppl ask for sources for stuff like this. Like some ppl have inside info that you should just believe sometimes. I don’t see why anyone would lie about that
