Not sure how far NE can go in this tournament with injuries juggling their line ups. However, Krause looked good playing 6 rotations and hitting from left pin.
NE this year has used rotations where all 4 starting hitters have had rotations at left and right sides. I think this may have held Krause back earlier in the season playing mostly right side, but I think this will pay dividends for her in the future as she now looks effective from both the left and right sides. Ditto the other hitters.

well that sucks. what do we think the other ailments could be? Hames is a 5th year in one of the toughest positions on the floor - her whole body is hurting at this point. Notably - she had the back issue that had her miss a few games earlier this season. I am sure it is the concussion keeping her off the floor though. It is obvious she is a tough cookie and if she was allowed to play, I feel sure she would. What a shame for her to end her career like this. Hate it for her and her family and her team.

If Cook wanted Caffey she would be here. I was told that Cook believed that the Big Ten Championship and the NCAA Championship went thru Wisconsin and that he wasn't sure Nebraska could beat them with a 6'0 MB. Last year 6'0 Caffey was looking across the net and seeing 6'8 and 6'9. Caffey was giving up 8'' and 9'' to them and that is just too much to overcome. That would be like Nebraska's 6'4 MBs looking across the net and seeing MBs that stand 5'7 and 5'8. At times it seemed like Caffey was the only one you could count on for a kill but the quick set over the middle is pretty much the extent of her game. I don't know why he didn't try Schwarzenbach against Wisconsin. if cook didn’t want Caffey back, why would they go through the lengthy ncaa process for her last year of eligibility. Caffey was doing just fine, and she wasn’t the only 6’ middle cook had relied on. Cook definitely wanted Caffey to stay until the scholarship penalty came about. Instead of a scholarship NIL deals were the hopeful return on her investment. Kayla, rightfully so, was probably upset by the lack of scholarship and decided to explore her options…she likely doesn’t have a scholarship at Texas either but why not go play your final year with one of your BFFs, still have a chance at a title, and finish up at one of the top NIL programs? Caffey was definitely my favorite Husker the couple seasons we had her, and while I would’ve liked to see her in red this year, she looks happy. And so does Akana…I will cheer for them, and would do so individually even against the Huskers.

Krause looked really good in 6ro on the left pin. And Mendelson looked scary on the right and was ripping balls OOS. Going back to Cook's philosophy, he talks about wanting to "suffocate" teams. This line-up looked by far the best way to do that last night. Batenhorst does not have a lot of room to make errors anymore.

Regarding Caffey, it's looking like, if winning a championship before she graduates is her goal, she made the right call. Texas is in a far better position right now than Nebraska to win the title. I wish her all the luck in the tournament (unless she plays Nebraska).

This pry isn't fair to say but I have more faith in Krause as a 6ro then Batenhorst. I have absolutely no stats or anything to back that up just plain ol' faith.

They are both really scrappy and hard working players. Sad to see them out for their last ride even as someone who dislikes the program

Short answer: he didn’t want any other team to have her. Especially the team the team she ended up at. 🤷🏾♂️ YaDaYaDa...Some opposing fans just like to bad mouth NE and Coach Cook, and make it up as they go. An alternate reality they create for themselves. Why? Not sure but envy comes to mind... I mean it’s fine to want to rewrite history. Don’t blame you there. But the facts are (mostly) out there already, so no use re-litigating things.
