Was impressed with Maise's play. Made some key digs and stepped up with confidence making OOS sets, including the assist for match point.

FWIW - Evans would obviously not be making 1st or 2nd team B1G 10. However, she has stepped into a huge role and done her best and in my opinion played a pivotal part and bringing a lot of energy off the bench. So some might see this as a participation award - but I see it as an unsung hero who plays with team first mentality and deserves recognition! I like your take better because it’s 1000% true, but it just seems like a strange award that they threw in at some point? I don’t mean it to be disrespectful to Anni at all because I brag on her all the time…she’s actually been the setter though maybe not as good, has been consistent and able to play and team knows exactly what they’ll get every day. I just wish there was a better name for the award cause they deserve it does lend to sounding participation-y.

Wait what was the truth about Hames? Was she concussed or no? concussion, i thought it was confirmed Cook didn’t straight up say concussion on Thursday night press conference, he said she got hit in face against Wisconsin, had other ailments and was under the weather. She was hurt for five games mid season…I haven’t gotten to listen to last nights press conference to see if they confirmed what was wrong, but did see him quoted saying this may be the healthiest Hames has been all season. 🤷🏼♀️

Coach Cook in the press conference after the 2nd round match: "It's Bekka's world, and we're just living in it."
She's something special, for sure. You could see how proud he is.

It looks as though Krause and Batenhorst are gaining on their mojo, they both looked really good. If these two sophomores can get us through to elite 8, I'd be happy as *&^#. Just think we need Knuckles to go all the way. Krause, yes. Batenhorst, the mojo is not reflected in her hitting percentages. She’s carrying a heavier workload for sure

On the Husker list, the owner has noted that the LJS article on last night’s match reported Nebraska's all-time record against Kansas before yesterday was something like 87-0-1. He then asked a question I don’t know how to answer: When were ties possible in volleyball?
Any insights from this knowledgeable group?

I dunno why.

So...what's going on with Lauenstein? Only one decent match in her last 6.

So...what's going on with Lauenstein? Only one decent match in her last 6. Teams have caught on to her game. 95% of her attacks are just hard-cross court. She doesnt have the approach or swing (or setting) to diversify her attacks and its become easier to defend.

I dunno why. Thanks! I poked around a bit more and found this...
And what about that tie? It was Nov. 15, 1977 – the third year volleyball was a varsity sport at Kansas – when during a match in Lincoln, Nebraska won the first set 18-16 (sets were played to 15 back then) then lost the second 15-7.
“I was a freshman at Barton Community College, playing hoops,” Kansas coach Ray Bechard said Wednesday. “I’m not sure what was going on in ’77. I think they used to do multiple matched in a day, and maybe you played two sets. If you split them, you called it good.”
Three days later, Nebraska beat the Jayhawks 15-5 and 15-9; it was the fourth matchup of the season between the schools.

Was impressed with Maise's play. Made some key digs and stepped up with confidence making OOS sets, including the assist for match point. Maisie was a setter in high school. She is only 5'5'' but her height would not be a problem in this offense. Why not give her a shot. We need something to shake things up.
