I’m scared anytime I have to walk anywhere in the upper deck. Plus, hotter than heck. I'm with you on both counts. And sitting on the same boards people walk on is gross. Like "bus pants".

More questions than answers at this point, but why let that limit speculation. So, for kicks and giggles, I'll fire up the crystal ball on the 2022 team. Don't take this too seriously, it's just for fun and conversation.
Orzol - All around play makes everyone better, plus being the glue that holds it together, makes her mvp. Could theoretically see a scenario where a thumper(Jardine if she stayed) situationally subs in the front row, but not likely Julia comes off the floor.
Devyn - Too much talent not to be a mainstay. Settles in to middle role and takes her play to the next level.
Smrek - Should, on-balance, play much closer to final four mvp than early season inconsistent freshman. Should see some periodic position swapping with Devyn to take advantage of skills, situations and matchups.
Franklin - Good news is her overall play is better than last year Grace. Bad news is she can't be counted on to effectively go 6 rotations night in and night out.
Hart - Gets back to early last year form. Plays the majority, but certainly not exclusively at the other middle. Not Rettke, but hard to ask for a better replacement..
MJ - I don't think Sheffield has much ironed out yet, so the crystal ball is smoking trying to figure this one out. A 6-2 has a LOT of theoretic appeal, but ultimately they settle on 5-1 with the keys going to MJ. She's solid, but not surprisingly there are nights when we miss Hilley.
GG - Buying the hype; it's GG, or bust, at Libero.
Demps - Looks like another primarily back row hitting specialist season and situational sub. Given other backrow options, and no Dana to draw attention, backrow hitting could be less impactful(i.e. her numbers won't look as good as they did at the end of last season).
Crawford - How the heck did they get Crawford to come? Too good to sit, but playing time is limited. Won't keep her off the court next year.
Izzy - She is good enough to play more, but looks like another season of primarily serving specialist, which is a pretty nice weapon to have. If it plays out like this, wonder if she takes her covid year to start somewhere.
Boyer - She will give it all she has, but she just doesn't have Gio consistency. There will be opportunities to come up big when serve receive sub is desperately needed.
AnnaMac - She is a capable DS, but doesn't appear overtaking Boyer will be in the cards.
Reed - When she transferred after playing as a true F, really thought she would make a bigger mark. Looks like role will be limited.
McCaa - Seems too good to be a back up's backup, but she wanted to be a badger. Hard to envision a big role on the court.
Wrobel - Too much in front of her to get material/consistent time. True redshirting doesn't seem to happen, but in effect, a red-shirt season.
Liz - Another solid back-up behind a lot of talent.

I really think Demps and Orzol will take BIG leaps in performance this year. Orzol will rarely come off the floor. Smrek and Robinson may be the only two that require a serving specialist. Pin Hitter back row serve receive should be much more consistant with Franklin replacing Loberg. I think when the dust settles Gulce wins Libero and Boyer gets eclipsed by Izzy or maybe even Reed for defensive specialist. Smrek will get off to a slow start as it will take time to build a solid connection with MJ. I guess I'm saying we shouldn't expect any 20 kill nights from her until around mid-season. Should be a compelling training period and start to the season.

Hart will struggle in the beginning. It’s a big injury to come back from and she has to rebuild strength and timing with a new setter. Crawford will likely have a bigger role than Hart to start. Orzel will never leave the floor. Six rotation mainstay. Worbel might not play a lot in the beginning, but she will be a starter come NCAA tournament time. She’s a beast. Too talented to be on the bench.

There are only so many spots on the court and if you're saying Orzol won't leave the court, who are you sending to the bench for Wrobel to be a starter by the end of the season? Franklin or Smrek? Don't see that happening.

Yeah, that's more... what the absolute F--K?!?

Yeah, that's more... what the absolute F--K?!? There is high demand for volleyball seats especially good seats. GA ticket availalibilty for newer season ticket holder requesters has also been tied into donation amount. It is 'highly encouraged' the ticket office has said. These amounts do not surprise me and seem like a huge jump. But let's be honest with ourselves. The volleyball tickets have been underpriced when taking into account the entertainment value provided and the Badgers elite level of success.

Thinking about it some, my guess is the "recomendation" is going to serve as a sort of "Dutch auction" (and forgive the phrase if it isn't PC).
Let's say there are 400 "gold" seats, but only 200 people make the recommended "donation". What are they gonna do, not sell the other 200 seats?
The "donation" puts you at the top of the list. If you apply for "gold" but don't make a donation, you fall to the end of the list. If they get 400 donators, you don't get gold. But if demand for gold at these prices isn't what they hope it is, you maybe get your seat anyway.
I'll be interested, to say the least, to see what the actual application form/page says.
(And if I'm right and you really want to be at the top of the list, "donate" $260 instead of $250.)

$275 plus "recommended" contribution. What happens if I choose to not accept their "recommendation"? --------- So, what cost me $85 last year is going to cost at least $275, and possibly $525. Yeah, that's more... what the absolute F--K?!? $275 for 14 home matches = less than $20 per match for the best seats in the house. $88 for 14 home matches = just over $6 per match for G.A. Seating. It costs $18 for a movie. I’d rather watch the Badgers play than go to a movie. The costs are more than reasonable to me. But I’m sure there are some that will decide to not do it anymore and that’s okay. The bandwagon continues to grow for this program and I’m excited for this upcoming season and will gladly pay this. Nebraska tickets start at $20 and dramatically go up from there. The cheap seats for a basketball game is $23 per game. Volleyball is $6 and more enjoyable for this old man. The prices are about the same as they were 15 years ago. Since then the program has been to four Final Fours and lots of upgrades to the facilities. Now let’s see a schedule!!!!! Well, with the $250 donation added it's more like $40 a match. That is pretty steep, but it does go someway to offset a 2-fold reduction in seating. I'd hope there are also perks vis a vis priority for NCAAs etc. The GA tickets are still an absolute bargain, though waiting in line to get the right seats is kind of a pain - especially during winter.

I wonder if overall donation level & points accrued in each donor level will determine who gets first shot at VB Gold level tix? I’m not sure we can afford $1000/season for VB in the gold section on top of our FB & BB tix, but I’m guessing we’ll have a good opportunity for them if we chose to do so.
Odds are good we’ll stay in Bronze.

The advantage of a seat fee separate from the ticket price is that it is 80% deductible as a charitable contribution. Of course, that's only useful if you itemize, and the odds are that you won't benefit from itemizing any more. I’m pretty sure that deduction went away a few years ago. I’d have to go back and check the letters from the Foundation thanking us for our contributions, but I’m pretty sure that the seat donations stopped being deductible fairly recently.

Seat backs in the Stadium for football are removable, and are optional; individually attachable and removable per seat (and cost $ if you choose to have one). Remains to be seen if they mean something like that or more permanent, like you're thinking it will be. The seat backs in FB are optional, but the donations to have seats in certain sections are not. Someday they will end up doing away with bleacher seating in chunks of Camp Randall, and charge more to sit in those seats.
