(unless big big donors are allowed to 'cut the line. Again, who knows.) New applicants to getting season tix for VB aren’t going to be able to “cut the line” to scoop up all the Gold seats nor do the same with Silver or Bronze. The balcony section might be more realistic for big donors to cut the line for, but that’s a new premium section that hasn’t existed before. I may sound like a broken record here, but the athletic department has been pretty consistent about letting people renew their season tickets first before allocating any openings to new applicants for season tickets. Agreed. Will, the guy I talked to in the development office yesterday, assured me that the only way that anyone other than Gold refugee existing season ticket holders will get into Gold is if enough of us refugees choose to leave Gold that there are empty seats there.

…Trying to get in now for your first season as a VB season ticket holder is going to be VERY tough. WI sold out every single home match (up to the Regional Semi, for some weird reason). That means that every single season ticket seat was sold (or converted to a “single game” seat, which then sold every match). When your season ticket block is filled, you can deal with new season ticket requests by: 1) expand it at the cost of single-game tickets/seats. 2) expand the capacity of the arena, to create new seats. 3) allow $$$ to rule, so new people can buy someone else’s seat if they pay enough. 4) put them on a waiting list, and wait for current season ticket holders to quit/move/die. They're essentially going with option 4, but by increasing the price of tickets, they are trying to increase attrition.

They may be actively trying to discourage people in other sections trying to upgrade to Gold. I asked about it, but they didn’t seem terribly inclined to make it happen for me. The idea that I’d basically be giving up my Bronze priority to “go for the gold” and having to only rely on my donor rank/points to get Gold or Silver seats seemed a bit risky (upgrading lumps your requests in with all the other general requests, as if you’re applying for season tickets for the first time). I was lucky to get reserved seats in H in our first attempt at requesting season tickets in 2020, but I’m not sure if I want to press my luck again.

Moving away for a quick second from seating woes, Sarah Franklin and MJ Hammill are trolling Sheffield and I laughed so hard at this.

And if you hop into the replies, they also visited Bascom and the terrace.

OMG I’m dead. That’s awesome! Good to see these kids having fun together. That’s reassuring for team chemistry on a squad with a lot of new faces coming in for the fall.
Was it covered when Wrobel was going to be on campus? I believe I saw that GG was going to arrive just before the semester/camp started.

I expect another "picking her up at the airport" video for/with GG. (The Sarah Franklin thing was almost a month ago. Could have sworn it was 'covered' here, but I guess not.)

It was in the most recent Joncast with Sheffield and Dennis, but I don't remember dates. Wrobel is competing in AAU nationals. GG and Orzol are competing in the U21 Euros. Not sure of the timing of any of this, but likely won't see campus for another month or so.

Listening to the most recent Joncast right now. Bummer that there’s not a permanent trophy case at the Field House for this coming season, but it’ll be nice to see it for 2023.

If I remember, Wrobel wasn't due to camp until July due to AAU Nationals. GG won't appear on campus until 24 hours before first fall team meeting due to U21 Euro championships in late July. I imagine Orzol will have similar timing, but she is a sophomore. Maybe they fly in together!

What occurs to me is that anybody in town looking to work out on their own must be having to do so somewhere else, with the Field House in such disarray. Nicholas-Johnson building, between the Kohl Center and LaBahn Arena, maybe? I know they had, are holding camps during the summer; where are those being held?

I remembered I had seen a couple tweets from Gary White about one of the camps; it was indeed in the Nicholas-Johnson building. I assume the players would be able to access that building, though they might have to schedule around any basketball players looking to use it for its 'normal' purpose.

I think they hold camps in the N-J building / somewhere in that Kohl Center complex.
