An update for me for anyone interested. I was in Bronze-level P and got the same seats, $140 for the season.
I'm good with that.

The conversation I had with the ticket office guy made it pretty darn clear that actual seat assignment won't happen until after they have received all the applications, and that won't be until after July 1st.

Also curious about that, unless you’ve got some seats way high up. Everything that I understood is that there’s little to no guarantee of anyone, anywhere, getting the same seats as they’ve had in the past. 200 people are getting completely displaced from Gold and 60 people are getting displaced from their old seats in Bronze (they could still stay in Bronze, unlike those 200 in Gold). How much of a domino effect that is going to have on the other sections is up for debate, not to mention there could be some improvements for some where people opt to not renew their tickets at all.

My "application" page listed my last year seat location, above where the options for this year were listed (I went with silver, because as I've made clear, I don't care a whit about the comfy seat :-) Maybe he misunderstood what that was doing there on his.

Gotcha. My application noted my previous seats too, even though it was 100% clear that I was not going to be able to get those same seats.

Speaking of these 'suggested' $250 gold seat donations, new season ticket holder applications are told to 'donate' to put oneself at a higher ranking for season tickets YET I know of some season ticket holders that have never donated?? Grandfathered in? Are these just in GA?

I am kind of interested in knowing who has received offers from Sheffield, should anyone find seat to watch said person. My impression is that many were interested in Wisconsin, but we are blind on the other side of things.

Grandfathered in? Are these just in GA? I'm not sure I understand the question. I have had season tickets since 2014, and in a "golden" section, and I have never donated to VB or the athletic department. Whatever "points" I have have built up from VB and women's hockey season ticket ordering. (BTW: can we count donations to the McArdle lab and the Carbone Cancer center? My standing would be a whole lot better!) The $250 "donation" for gold is suggested (probably meaning required) for anyone and everyone applying for gold seats. No "grandfathering". And unless their whole program goes quite badly, and everyone in gold opts for somewhere else, I highly doubt any new applicants are going to get gold seats. But with all of this, who knows, I could be wrong.

Grandfathered in? Are these just in GA? I seriously doubt making a donation now to try to jump a few spots is going to help anyone’s cause to get better seats. I don’t know what sort of percentage of VB season ticket holders are active donors, but I’d guess it’s not very high. It’s not been needed in the past, but I would guess that in 5 years, yearly donations will be required for sections other than Gold. Back to Fall 2022… donor rank and points level will come into play in prioritizing seat assignments later this year, but those who have priority request forms and season ticket renewals forms have better access than anyone else. Trying to get in now for your first season as a VB season ticket holder is going to be VERY tough.

Trying to get in now for your first season as a VB season ticket holder is going to be VERY tough. Before this all happened, there was a guy - Fred - who sometimes sits next to me when the regular ticketholders - a friend of Fred's - weren't going to be there. He had GA seats, but was trying every way he could think of to get reserved seats. And there was also a vacant seat right there in the row (another story), so I had agreed to see if I could add the vacant seat to my single seat, make it a pair, and then let Fred have my new 'other' seat. That's an example of how tight reserved seats had been the last couple years; Fred's scheme is obviously right out the window. Now with even fewer 'reserved' available, new applicants will have an even tougher time (unless big big donors are allowed to 'cut the line. Again, who knows.)

…Trying to get in now for your first season as a VB season ticket holder is going to be VERY tough. WI sold out every single home match (up to the Regional Semi, for some weird reason). That means that every single season ticket seat was sold (or converted to a “single game” seat, which then sold every match). When your season ticket block is filled, you can deal with new season ticket requests by: 1) expand it at the cost of single-game tickets/seats. 2) expand the capacity of the arena, to create new seats. 3) allow $$$ to rule, so new people can buy someone else’s seat if they pay enough. 4) put them on a waiting list, and wait for current season ticket holders to quit/move/die.

Two additions of interest to those renewing. Earlier today I went to the Box Office and renewed my two seats in Section H, a Bronze location. The guy told me I would be getting the same seats as in the past- no changes and very specific. I asked him would there be a conflict with the new policy of putting visitors in that section and he said absolutely not a problem. The visitors will all be in the first 5-7 rows. Another thing he said was you were not going to receive a renewal notice if you were going to get the same seats, only people with conflicts in your seating would receive a notice.

(unless big big donors are allowed to 'cut the line. Again, who knows.) New applicants to getting season tix for VB aren’t going to be able to “cut the line” to scoop up all the Gold seats nor do the same with Silver or Bronze. The balcony section might be more realistic for big donors to cut the line for, but that’s a new premium section that hasn’t existed before. I may sound like a broken record here, but the athletic department has been pretty consistent about letting people renew their season tickets first before allocating any openings to new applicants for season tickets.

Grandfathered in? Are these just in GA? Existing season ticket holders renewing are prioritized above new requests or requests for upgrades. So if there are people who got tickets back in the day when they were highly available but have never donated, they’ll have just sat on those seats for years. They will be bumped to GA or whatever for postseason, and they won’t be able to upgrade or get more tix, but if they’re happy with their regular season seats they can just camp out there.
