Tyler this and Tyler that as if DBK didn't just win NCOY after like 4 years on the job. There's your heir apparent.

I have no idea if this is true, but if I wanted to be the next head coach of Nebraska, I think it would be wise to have successful head coaching experience on my resume before that job came open. Or have head-coach-in-waiting written into my contract. Exactly. If cook is still 3-5 years from retirement and DBK keeps on her current trajectory and TH is just cooks assistant whole time who becomes more attractive option. tH needs to prove himself. DBK success forces this to happen. or Cook isn’t 3-5 years from retiring, DBK is next up and TH knows it. Just speculating, but apparently so were all UNL fans who assured everyone that TH wasn’t going anywhere

Quality of life…. Middle of nowhere Nebraska for the rest of your life or making a difference at your university and living in avg 73 degree year-round weather… no brainer. Not everyone needs to live their entire life for the Go Big Red army… Brilliant move. His next house will cost 5x as much plus those California taxes will eat that salary up in a hurry. You will have a handful of people in the bleachers passing around a bong. Oh yes....and the weather is nice where no one will care what you do or if your team is good or not. Way to convince me. You must not know his family (and Kristin Richard’s) money…. He’s just fine, trust me. And he saved all of his Nebraska checks since his housing was like $10 per month.

Or have head-coach-in-waiting written into my contract. For what it's worth, Dani Busboom's new contract at Louisville contains a specific clause that lets her leave for Nebraska without a buyout. The buyout is irrelevant cause any big program has the money to cover that if they really want her and she’s willing. That means nothing to the bigger programs.

Well I've only heard from a couple players. Can't speak for the rest of the team, but I'm sure they're excited. Unless you're one of the girls on the tail end of the roster, I can't imagine he's going to keep 22 players. I do hope he gets a quality setter from the portal. Maybe Tuaniga returns? I’m told he had an impact of her brothers development..you know, the national Player of the year she’d have to sit out a year

You might not believe this, but some people don't actually like living in Nebraska. I lived there for five years as a kid, and I'd never move back.

No place is perfect, but I do think that people like to project their own comforts on other people and I think that’s what the poster was saying to you. Obviously he’s leaving for a reason. Cook doesn’t strike me as a the type to hire stupid people that make flippant decisions. If that’s not what you would do in that situation, that’s ok - but hildebrand’s motivations for leaving isn’t for you to understand and MANY people don’t want to be in Lincoln, Nebraska for the rest of their lives.

Good move for Tyler, Long Beach State, and the Big West. Hey maybe he should pick up glass as assistant. She lives in Orange County at moment. That no more then 30 min depending on where in Orange County she’s at. As much as I’d like to see glass back at psu , that could be a good coaching pickup for him. Plus I only live 30 min away. If we had some psu alum there I’d go see Long Beach play

His house will be 3x that is in Nebraska, it will be 3 miles from the surf instead of 3,000 miles. His house will appreciate 3x in dollar value for every year that goes by. He will write off 3x in interest on his house. He can go to a store and buy clothing that doesn't have read. he'll be greated by 2500 fans on opening night next year, and contrary to mythology, students at places like LB, Fullerton, UCLA, UCLA grind their way for school and don't do drugs like they do at schools in the middle of nowhere like Nebraska who need to experiment and hoard bonds to pass the time away cause they have no life other than their little world This is fun You can buy a decent house in the Long Beach area for $450.000? If you can get 2500 hundred fans to a game I will run naked down main street. Dude..Surfs up man.

He has to do something. He’s not gonna get credit for being cooks assistant. If he wants to compete for that nebraska job in future he needs to show what he can do. DKB has proven herself on her own as a HC now If he really wants that nebraska job he’s gonna have to prove what he can do I am shocked. He was Cooks heir apparent for pete sake. Why would he jump ship now? Stupid move. I'm thinking because Cook is healthy and wants to coach and will coach for 5-6 more years, in which time who knows what will happen in the college VB world. Possible that he might lose "heir apparent" status. Maybe he thinks/wants, as others on this thread have surmised, that he needs prove himself as a head coach - then he'd have an even better chance of taking over at NEB.

lol, typical BCS arrogance. Stupid comment maybe he doesn't want to wait for 3-4 years, maybe he loves SoCal, maybe he's just confident in his ability to KNOW he can succeed now, there's no 'guarantee' of anything, for making the comment you just made, well if this is true then I hope some Nebraska players enter the transfer portal and follow him, because that's the type of sh&t and cr$p mid-major schools have to listen to and put up with from the arrogance of the BCS out there. so there!!!! I’m with you. I think he’s got 3-5 years left cook that is. DBK is really making a name for herself and how does TH do that as cooks assistant. Cook is always the one that gonna get most that credit while he’s hc. I think TH has to prove himself on his own. I think this is spot on. Cook is sticking around for awhile, and Hildebrand is too smart and talented to bide his time as C2 any longer.
