There's not really a "Toronto" in the bigger leagues.. but I would say the closest would probably be Volero. Volero was based in the Swiss League, in Zurich for awhile. (Foluke played for them) But they didn't feel the Swiss League was good enough competition for them (they'd won like 8 league titles in a row) They moved to the French League 6? years ago... and are based in Cannes now. Volero Zürich still exists. They play in LNB (Swiss 2nd division) and they'll be 99.99 % promoted to LNA next season (they're 1st in the standings and they've lost only one set so far). The "French" Volero is based in Le Cannet (a couple of miles north of Cannes).

Given the really incredible input from avid and many others in this thread, I've decided that my easiest route to truly understanding the European leagues is to pick a player and follow her journey.
I'm picking Samedy.
I still have a ton of questions. (Apparently that's become my mantra.)
That said, Bundesliga, here I come.

Most of the matches are on sport1 which is hella expensive. You might be better off picking a player in the Italian or Turkish league. It’s way More accessible

If you’re looking for a recent ncaa grad to follow maybe Mac May at Bergamo in the Italian league would be a fun one.

lol you've picked one of the leagues that isn't free.
The bundesliga subscription is $66 for the rest of the season, which rounds out to like $15/month.(unless they drop the rate in the new year)
