Well I notice you didn't answer my question so I will take that as a "I don't do shaite for the program other than be a keyboard warrior on Volleytalk." Funny how someone that doesn't do shaite for the program can come on here and tell somebody that has, how to be a fan...... No one cares what you did. You don’t get a checklist of stuff you did that entitles you and your lolohead friends to decide what needs to be done to “fix” Na Wahine. We also have been past boosters for a team, so what. We know a few big time donors both living and not who have donated tons of money and resources to further the mission of UH sports and most don’t want anyone to know what they did, others did so in memorial of a loved one, but NONE of them has ever told UH what needs to be done in order to bring UH back into the past. And for the others questioning some of our experiences, most of us have been playing volleyball way before some of you have been born. We just want to support UH with positivity instead of being passive aggressive. I have been on volleytalk even before they moved to Proboards and a Hawai’i thread has never been this toxic to it’s own program. Be like the aunties. So you know a few big time donors? BFD! What have YOU done for the program other than be a keyboard warrior on VT? "Be like the aunties" once again, someone that's never contributed to the program telling someone that has how to be a fan....LOL....

Gurl… on my wildest wishlist it would be Magda and she would bring Pia with her 😝 Wasn't Magda here during the men's season watching some games? If we get her and Pia, we are back in the mix of things lol! Even having her would be a huge boost, she was the 2019 AVCA National Freshman of The Year! Oh yes! They were here during the 2019 NCAA first rounds I think. They know what Hawaii had to offer. But yea, they’re super wishlist material.

Why are we spoiled to expect our team to do what it's done in the recent past? and I'm NOT talking about the 80's and 90's!, I'm talking about as recently as the 2010's! As fans that know the history of our program, we should expect (and insist!) that our team stays relevant. Having fans like you that are OK with the program sliding into mediocrity doesn't help the program. It only helps it slide more. It's not unrealistic to expect our team to uphold the traditions and history of our program. Like I said - we have the best fans in the nation - consistently in the top 3 in attendance, and our team plays in one of the best arena's in the country. "And so what you asking for really?" I think I've been pretty clear about what I want but since you obviously haven't been paying attention I will repeat myself: YES, I want our team to be talked about in the national conversation again and also ranked again on a consistent basis. Up until 2017 we only had one year where we missed the rankings and that was in the injury plagued 1992 year. We've been left out of the rankings 3 out of the last 4 years, COVID year excluded. From the looks of things (news coming out of the program) it will only get worse. By any metric, it's pretty clear to me that our program is headed in the wrong direction! With all that being said, it baffles me that people like you are OK with where our program is headed. Can you imagine a fan of any program that has won national championships and had a tradition of being perennially nationally ranked, be it football, baseball or whatever, being OK with their team sliding into mediocrity? So I ask you: knowing the history of our program, why are you OK with it? Do not waste your time with certain ones on here lol, not worth it trust me. It's like a never ending conversation with stupidity. You can tell by the way some people talk here that they've NEVER played volleyball, or on a team, or a successful one at that, to know where you're coming from or at least try to understand it. All we can do is add our expertise on the matter haha, like that yeah lmao! You one other Crack pot who makes other fans hate our program, Sister Mary Ellis! You should talk! You both can be two peas in a pod. BTW, where is the criteria that says you had to have played volleyball in order to talk?? You always throw that in people's faces. Sis, you probably played in the 80's. The game has moved way past even you, tutu! Still trying to live your volleyball days through VT. Get a life sis.

Hawaii athletics on the verge of its best Big West year yet
By Jason Kaneshiro May 20, 2022, Honolulu Star-Advertiser
Amid a national championship celebration, University of Hawaii athletic director David Matlin took a moment to address the department’s potentially historic run of success at the conference level.
A spring surge positioned UH to post its highest finish in the Big West Commissioner’s Cup standings — a points race among the league’s 11 schools measuring performance in conference competition over the academic year.
UH placed third in the standings upon re-joining the Big West in 2013, but has finished no higher than sixth since. Conference titles for the Rainbow Wahine volleyball, basketball and golf teams and runner-up performances in four other sports pushed the school into second place through last week’s events and into contention for the overall title.
“Obviously this is one of our best athletic years and academic years as well,” Matlin said during Tuesday’s celebration of UH’s second straight men’s volleyball national championship. “Very proud that the depth of our programs is really showing.”
Big West Commissioner’s Cup points are awarded based on regular-season standings in baseball, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s soccer, softball, women’s tennis and men’s and women’s volleyball. As such, UH’s Big West tournament titles in women’s basketball and men’s volleyball do not impact the point totals.
Conference championship events do account for points awarded in beach volleyball, men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s golf, men’s tennis, men’s and women’s track and field and women’s water polo.
The point totals are divided by the number of sports sponsored by each school to come up with the average that determines their standing. The point allotments vary according to the number of schools participating in a sport.
With only the baseball standings yet to be determined, UH ranks second in the Commissioner’s Cup ranking with an average of 135 points among 14 sports — still within striking distance of leader Long Beach State’s average of 140.7 among 15 sports. Cal State Fullerton is third at 130.8.
The baseball ’Bows enter this week’s series at UC San Diego in third place at 15-9 with six Big West games remaining. If they can catch Cal Poly (17-7) for second place and sixth-place Long Beach State (12-12) drops at least one notch, UH would overtake the Beach in the Commissioner’s Cup chase.
UH also led Big West schools in the Learfield Director’s Cup standings — which measures performance in NCAA championships — through the winter season and will get a boost with the men’s volleyball title this spring.
“There are a lot of metrics we look at. The Commissioner’s Cup is obviously something we wanted to improve and we did,” Matlin said. “And then there’s just the fact that our student-athletes average over 3.0 (grade-point averages), and just the way they represent in the community.
“We want to win, we want to win with integrity, and I’m very proud of the whole staff and the support we get from the university and state.”
The Rainbow Wahine volleyball team delivered a Big West title in the fall and the women’s basketball team’s championships highlighted the winter season.
This spring, the Wahine golf team tied Cal Poly for its first Big West title and earned first-place points although the Mustangs won a playoff for the NCAA Tournament bid. The track and field team posted the highest finish in program history in finishing second at the conference meet last weekend in Davis, Calif., capped by a victory in the 4×400 relay. Long Beach State won the women’s title to move ahead in the Commissioner’s Cup race.
UH water polo, beach volleyball and men’s volleyball also had second-place finishes this spring, while women’s tennis and softball came in third.
The Big West instituted the Commissioner’s Cup in the 1998-99 season and Pacific claimed the first two titles. UC Santa Barbara has finished atop the standings 10 times since, Long Beach State eight times and Cal State Fullerton once. The Cup was not awarded the last two years due to the pandemic.

Your belief that the program currently sucks because they are not like they were in your delusional past is ridiculous. If you don't like how the program currently is, then why even be a fan and spread your negativity in this thread. I dare you to tell Coach Rob that the program sucks. Who cares how the program was when it's in the past? The fact that we are still at the top of the Big West food chain is the new normal, the only way into the tournament is through winning the Big West. Unless you are in a Power 5 conference, it will be very difficult to be in the top ten again. Top 25, we have already accomplished that when we finished at 15 in 2019. Give it a rest.

You said “who cares how the program was when it’s in the past” but still use 2019 as a counterpoint in reference to rankings and measuring success. I agree with who cares about the past but what is the current state of the program? Roster players and a prospective recruit not staying committed and no draw from big recruits domestic or international. It’s definitely not a death sentence to the program but fans (booster or not) can wonder what’s going on. Also, no one said the program sucks but you. So is that how u really feel?

This is why no one post any “tea” anymore.
Hawaii fans used to be well respected in this site, now because of most of you, it’s a laughing stock.
It’s the reason why the inside posters rarely post anymore

This is why no one post any “tea” anymore. Hawaii fans used to be well respected in this site, now because of most of you, it’s a laughing stock. It’s the reason why the inside posters rarely post anymore I've been reading UH threads on VT for about five years now (~twice as long as I have been a member). Since I live near Kona...although my alma mater is another historically famous VB university...I have experienced the enthusiasm surrounding the Wahine program since I came to permanently reside here thirteen years back. UH fans passionately follow Na Wahine volleyball at The Korner Pocket sports bar in Kealakekua, which is fairly near to where I live. Though many of them wistfully remember past glories, they are still fully on board with the program: win or lose! I am not from here (Bay Area/Stanford) but even in my playing days (mid-upper 2000s) Hawai'i was well known for its unique and loyal VB culture. The success Shoji created back in the day really was a phenomenon nothing short of a VB miracle...factoring in the distance from here to the Continental US. What's not so miraculous is this level of infighting here; I've never seen it before!

Some posters know how to attack others and when those reply to the attack, they report you. Can't mention names, but they know who they are. Petty stuff like that only shows maturity and should grow up. Mahalos.....
