Glad to see that thereās am effort to raise the profile of high level high school games. Hosted at Nebraska, professional play by play and commentary, just nice to see effort put into something other than football and boys basketball.

Braelyn Akana finds her moment early and late against Long Beach StateBy Brian McInnis Nov. 05, 2022, Spectrum News Hawaii right-side hitter Braelyn Akana put down eight kills on 13 swings against Long Beach State on Friday night to help the Rainbow Wahine improve to 12-1 in Big West play. (Spectrum News/Brian McInnis) Excerpts: HONOLULU ā Patience has paid off for Braelyn Akana. A years-long conversion from middle to hitter has begun to bear fruit at the right-side pin, where Hawaii harvested one of the best games of Akanaās career to sweep rival Long Beach State, 26-24, 25-18, 25-18 at SimpliFi Arena on Friday night. ... āI knew in the back of my head that I was going to be a pin hitter,ā Akana told Spectrum News after Fridayās match. āI think that took a lot of time and a lot of patience, and Coach Rob was really helpful with me, Coach Nick (Castello), Coach Ang (former staff member Ljungqvist), Coach Kaleo (Baxter), they all really helped me stay patient with all of that. So, itās been a really long experience, but Iām grateful for it right now. Itās worth it.ā Full story: spectrumlocalnews.com/hi/hawaii/sports/2022/11/05/braelyn-akana-finds-her-moment-early-and-late-against-long-beach-state Braelyn Akana, third from left, celebrated with her team on a point in the third set. Hawaiāi womenās volleyball sweeps Long Beach StateRiley Wagoner secures her 100th career block in three-set win Michelle Chan, Junior Staff Writer 11/5/22, Ka Leo The Rainbow WÄhine swept Long Beach State in a 26-24, 25-18, 25-18 match Friday night at SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center. With Long Beach State breathing down the āBowsā neck, it was a slow start for Hawaiāi (15-6, 12-1 Big West) in the first set. However, the āBows went on a 3-0 scoring run to tie 16-16, followed by another 3-0 scoring run to lead 19-18 despite trailing three points earlier in the set. A service ace by UHās Caylen Alexander brought Hawaiāi up 25-24 in the later half, and a kill by outside hitter Riley Wagoner gave the āBows the first set. āI think it was good that [the first set] was tight because it kept us on our toes,ā setter Kate Lang explained. āWe knew that they were going to come back strong in set two, so we were going to have to come back strong as well.ā Advancing to the second and third set, the Rainbow WÄhine did nothing less than come back strong, full of control and momentum. Despite Long Beachās threatening efforts to close the score gap, the āBows were prepared to seize opportunities as their opponent took on more errors. Kills by UH outside hitter Braelyn Akana ended the final two sets of the match, giving UH its 12th win in conference play. Wagoner hit .308 with nine kills. She also secured her 100th career block on Friday night. Morgan Chacon recorded a team-high 13 kills for Long Beach State (15-7, 10-4 Big West). The āBows take on Cal State Fullerton tonight at Stan Sheriff Center to conclude this weekend's matches. The match will be televised on Spectrum OC16 with radio broadcasting on CBS 1500-AM. Watching some of the Class B games and man, I donāt mean anything but Iām just stunned when I see such a glaring lack of diversity amongst the crowd/teams. I get that itās Nebraska but man I canāt even imagine living in a place like that.

1st set, Stella playing mostly at the net, chisels the block a lot. 5 kills I think I counted

Theyāve got her a few times but sheās making Swiss cheese out of the block for the most part. Simpson having a great game as well.
