I've never seen it done. Apparently Hawai'i ran it in the 80's. Ryan Tsuji mentioned they'd be lined up as a triangle. In that case, half the rotations have two of the middles in front, and the other half have two in the back. Both Westerberg and Igiede can play anywhere in the front, and could both play back row if needed. Evans is likely middle duty only, so would always have a sub in the back. My guess is we never see it, but it's fun to think how it might work. I've been following this three-middle discussion a bit. I'm looking to watch a true triangle three-middle offense (not a MB as OPP/RS, which can be different), so maybe I'll try to dig up some old Hawai'i games. Looks like UCLA men's 2001 (Naeve, Morrow, Burnham) would be an example to watch if others are interested. |

Nice to see that Stella was only 3 kills away from matching both DNS and Medecks totals and wasn’t even on the floor the entire match |

Maddie is way more athletic and explosive than Burns. She is a quick jumper with a heavy arm. She even has a few videos of her hitting from the right on her IG. She was smoking the hits and she’s only a JR in HS. I think she will be a good replacement for Amber if we don’t get Miliana Sylvester. If we get both, we’ll be in great shape in the middles for years to come. |
