Hawaii women's volleyball team takes care of business against Cal State FullertonBy Brian McInnis Nov. 06, 2022, Spectrum News Utility player Chandler Cowell, middle, and the Rainbow Wahine celebrated a businesslike sweep of Cal State Fullerton on Saturday night. (Spectrum News/Brian McInnis) Excerpts: HONOLULU — After a clean sweep of Cal State Fullerton on Saturday night, Hawaii volleyball coach Robyn Ah Mow laid out what she’d like to see in the remaining six Big West matches of the season. UH did just about everything well in the 25-18, 25-18, 25-18 decision in front of 4,701 at SimpliFi Arena in an efficient hour and 31 minutes, but Ah Mow said there’s still much room for improvement from her first-place team as it now prepares to head to UC San Diego and UC Irvine next week. “Everything,” she said to a question of what UH (16-6, 13-1 BWC), a winner of six straight, most needs to work on most over the next three weeks as the team pushes for a championship. “I would like to keep our serving tougher. Our serve and our pass usually is pretty decent. The focus. We’re going to make mistakes; nobody’s perfect. But if we’re missing one of the passes, a passing ball, dialing back in and (saying) ‘yes, I can pass another ball’ and just coming back after that. “Assignments,” she continued. “Making sure we’re dialing in on where we’re blocking. Timing. Left and right hands on the blocks. And just offense. So, pretty much everything. Just dial it a little bit more. We still got some time. Can’t just snap our fingers and grow. But they’re definitely not the same team that started this in the beginning.” ... CSUF had two local players in action, both out of Kamehameha. Libero Nadia Koanui had a match-high 13 digs and hitter Malie McClure had three kills, nine digs and a block. “It’s nice to see them; I haven’t seen them since we played them at Fullerton,” said Akana, who played with McClure but did not overlap with Koanui at Kamehameha. “They made a lot of good plays. I know Malie and Nadia did good at digging.” Full story: spectrumlocalnews.com/hi/hawaii/sports/2022/11/06/hawaii-women-s-volleyball-team-takes-care-of-business-against-cal-state-fullerton

Hawai'i would be in consideration for an at-large with this kind of RPI.

Hawai'i would be in consideration for an at-large with this kind of RPI. Yep...but one lost will drop the RPI big time. If UH continues to win, the RPI will remain high but then they will win the conference auto big and RPI will not mean anything. Suppose UH win all their matches but lose to UCSB(which is currently #91), their RPI will probably fall into the 50's and out of contention. UH needs to focus on winning the auto bid. Not counting on UH getting an at large because they only have one big win(USC). On the plus side, we have zero bad losses(so far) so maybe that could help when determining the at large.

The goal is always about winning the automatic bid. That doesn’t change. Just pointing out that Hawaii probably gets into the tourney with that kind of RPI. Still season left to play.

I do not believe there is no other BWC team that has NO Seniors in their starting lineup. That does not bold well for the other BWC teams.
For Hawaii to get a good seed and placement in the NCAA Tournament, Hawaii needs to win out. The one thing going for Hawaii is that they have not played their Best, Most Complete Match, Yet. Meaning, every player is on their game, throughout the match. They seem to be still building toward that end. I believe Robyn is bringing the team to do that when it truly counts, the NCAA Tournament.

If the 2 Outside Hitters, who verbally committed, do end up signing to play for the Wahine Team, Robyn should be set at the 2 Outside Hitter positions, and Opposite, come 2024. Robyn already has a committed Middle for 2024. S0 with 6 remaining scholarships to give out, 2 will go to Middles, 1 to a setter, and the remaining 3 to, I am thinking, Outside Hitters/Opposite.
2024, could very well be a rebuilding year, but I am thinking, more like a restocking year. Robyn could be thinking of it as a restocking year. I would not be surprised if Robyn does not use all of her allocated scholarships in 2024, but hold maybe 1, or 2, for 2025. Just to space out the eligibility years.

I hope we have some walk on DS's from Hawaii high schools, I hope some of the HS players who stay home maybe goes out for the team.
