Lmao it was NOT 100 degrees in that gym, this is getting out of hand. Every time somebody talks about Memorial they bump the temp up 5 degrees, in two weeks it'll be 130

“Can’t go head to head with the big dogs, uses Louisville as an example” *UK goes 5 sets with Louisville* jfc lol How did they fair against Nebraska and Wisconsin? UofL didn't play that well and got their act together towards the end of the third set. It was also about 100 degrees in Memorial Coliseum that night which is a whole other issue. This program deserves better than that. Going 5 sets means nothing if you lose. That like saying the football team went overtime with whoever but still loss. There are no such things as good losses. Memorial is getting an 80 mil renovation this spring so at least we will finally be done hearing about that constantly. Also, I don’t think Skinner envisioned losing both Madi and Stumler last off-season. You add either one of those players to this team and they’re probably top 8 at worst and who knows how those early matches go. He had to scramble late to find transfers and recruits (franxman, Rollins, and Melby) to fill those voids and obviously they aren’t at near the same talent level as those two.

Former Wildcat Sophie Fischer is killing it at UGA. She has moved to MB and was a pinhitter for UK. Makes me wonder how much of a difference she would have made for the Cats this year. She probably saw the writing on the wall last year vs Tennessee when Skinner was out and they started and played Lamb over her. She leads the conference in blocks this season at UGA. Wish her the best and continued success!

I was at the game in my shorts and tshirt and was sweating a bit. I think UK needs to build a volleyball only facility and start a men's program as well. For that matter lets get a Sand program going as well. If you look at any of the data you can see volleyball is growing like gangbusters at the Club level and it can be a profitable sport with the right set up.

No one is debating that UK is having a down year, as compared to maybe the last two years. But anyone who has actually followed UK volleyball (and not just paid attention to the National Championship year, where a lot of things aligned and we had good talent at every position, a rarity for ANY team) shouldn't be this negative about our team this year. Hell, during the Edmond years, we couldn't set the RS or middle the majority of the time because we didn't have good attackers there.
If you're a fan, the hysterics are unnecessary (and completely off base). And if you have eyes, you aren't going to call Rutherford "not elite" or tell anyone convincingly Stumler hits a harder ball than her (still LOL'ing at that one). It's either insanity or bad trolling.

Honest question: if the price tag really is $80,000,000, it seems more like a "down-to-the-studs" rebuild than a renovation. How is it that expensive?

How is it that expensive? -The AC -Roof needs to be fixed -The seats are going to get replaced -The bathrooms -There's going to be like a lounge area/event space -4 different teams play there, so you have specific upgrades involving each -New offices -There's an academic/tutoring facility inside that's going to get upgrades -Lighting, sound, safety upgrades -Everything is in general more expensive now It's gonna be a pretty big overhaul and they might not be able to use Memorial next year. Apparently it's up in the air where any of the teams are going to play

Going to be interesting to see where all the teams that compete in Memorial (volleyball, womens bball, gymnastics) compete next year when renovations take place. Would assume some big matches would take place in Rupp, but not sure about most of the other games.
Either way, it was beyond needed and should only help with recruiting, atmosphere, and fan experience when it’s all said and done.

The problem is Rupp had an overhaul of its own a couple years ago, so now its rent is a lot higher. I'd be surprised if they didn't have at least a couple games there, but we'll see.

In 2021 we lost to South Carolina
In 2019 we lost to INDIANA, and Georgia and A&M in SEC play
In 2016 we lost to Tennessee and Missouri (twice)
And if we go back pre-Edmond, it gets "worse." 2017 (swept by Kansas preseason btw), 2018 and 2020 are really the only years we marched through the SEC without losses to non-Florida teams. UK has a tendency, for whatever reason (high risk system, SEC getting better over time), to lose to SEC teams "UK shouldn't lose to." Often we go into the Florida matches as underdogs because of some of those head-scratching losses.
It's a down year because of passing and our left sides. But it's not some crazy anomaly.
