Normally we'd talk about the roster and lineup for the season, but, in light of today's news.... coaching search, GO!!!

Wondering what players will now enter the Transfer Portal.

Wondering what players will now enter the Transfer Portal. I think this actually causes some to hesitate just a bit to see where the coaching search appears to be heading; not that they'll necessarily be told everything (if anything, really), but they'll get enough off-the-record/on-the-side rumors to get an idea.

Agreed. And at the end of the day - you are at PENN STATE - pretty cool place to get your degree!

Still need to compete against that Big Ten schedule which seems to get stronger every year. They'll get a good coach, but it'll need to be somebody with the ego to think they can follow coach Rose. Pretty daunting.

Pretty daunting. Good Lord. Am I really about to agree with jen? First I have to root for Nebraska in the final, which didn't work out, and now this? Yes, this is where I'm at, too. An up-and-comer could be a good move perhaps longer-term, but I think that'll come with a lot of growing pains, some small and some large. A more-established coach could have the ego, as you say, to follow a titan of the sport into what honestly is not a great situation for a variety of reasons. But I also think that situation is what will give pause to coaches who are already at the top. Might need to find that sweet spot where someone isn't quite near the top of the chain already but is already fairly proven.

Get a new coach, nab a couple transfers, boom…right back in the thick of things.

Pretty daunting. Or someone with the humility to know they cant really step into those shoes but are willing to do their best and put their own fingerprint on the program. Measuring yourself against Russ guarantees one to come up short.

My first choice would be DBK, Salima Rockwell, or Coach Jen Flynn Oldenburg. If none are available, I would look very hard to find a coach who was as I could get to being fully prepared and well rounded for a high level job as these three.

Oddly enough the person most likely on your list to take it would be DBK. Disclaimer : I don’t think any of the three would.

Rose should have done what Pettit did. Go land your replacement and work side by side for a year, then step down. Makes for an easier transition.
