Who are some serious names people think? I assume Salima and Katie will be top if they are trying for it. Other names that could be discussed: Sullivan Tamas Theis K. Cook Aird Hughes Fisher Kirsten Bernthal Booth would be much closer to the top of my list than Aird. I’d actually like to see KBB coach in the BIG

I mean anything could happen I suppose, but would be shocked if it did

The ONLY reason people are mentioning Aird is because he is an alum and a former PSU assistant, right? There is no way that guy has the resume as a head coach that could impress an AD/hiring committee for such a big hire. In fact, there are probably other, more qualified coaches that played and/or assisted at PSU that aren't being brought up. Aird is just easier to spell, perhaps. I'm not trying to put Aird on blast or say he's a bad coach or anything. I just can't believe how many posters on different threads have put him on their short lists. Mind boggling. Yeah, Aird kind of reminds me of Steve Alford in men's basketball. He wasn't very successful at Iowa, and he wasn't very successful at UCLA (by their standards). And while he had success at New Mexico, that's a mid-major, and what had he really won (he managed to lose to Harvard in the first round with one of the best New Mexico teams ever and never made it to the Sweet 16)? Yet, he kept getting brought up as a candidate for Indiana just because he was an alum. It didn't really make sense to anyone at any of the schools that he had coached at, and Indiana eventually figured this out too and passed on him.

The problem with an opening like this for a coach is that Rose is an impossible act to follow (ya' think?). I like leaving Katie Schumacher-Cawley in the position to see what she can accomplish. Give her a contract that allows her some time to succeed. She was a stellar collegiate at PSU. Her coaching career at UIC was not so stellar, but clearly RR thinks much of her. I would go with RR's trust in her!

I kind of agree here. Those three years under the direct coaching tutelage of Rose may have made her a better coach and now prepared for this job. He could probably have taken any number of alum in the coaching ranks... but he selected her. Other than Brown, she's the only alum with direct heading coaching experience, or am I wrong?

If psu doesn’t get it right there program will take hit. Recruits arnt sold on that location. You have to have right person to sell program cause the location sells nothing

I think if you want the best choice in Penn state family the only choice is Rockwell. I know some say if it was Rockwell it would have been fast which makes sense but that only if she was 100 percent willing. If there’s a chance but it’s slim they could be trying to figure out way to get her to change mind which would take longer In my opinion if you want smooth transition with best chance of program staying relevant right away it’s her period. Her with fauwcett or all my gear changes to USC 😂

Anyone involved in the process knows the reasons and they aren't trying to change her mind. Next.
