I think if you want the best choice in Penn state family the only choice is Rockwell. I know some say if it was Rockwell it would have been fast which makes sense but that only if she was 100 percent willing. If there’s a chance but it’s slim they could be trying to figure out way to get her to change mind which would take longer In my opinion if you want smooth transition with best chance of program staying relevant right away it’s her period. Her with fauwcett or all my gear changes to USC 😂 It will not be Salima. Some things don't change, and the reasons she won't be coaching haven't/won't change. Anyone involved in the process knows the reasons and they aren't trying to change her mind. Next. There is no next to remain top program. If there was they would have been hired already. Prob have to face fact that Penn state is no longer gonna be top tier program. None of the top tier coaches seem interested in leaving their current locations and location is sure as hell not gonna sell that program.

I don't see anyone in Rose's coaching tree that's a no-brainer other than Salima who is highly unlikely to take the job. If PSU cares to keep the program elite, they need to just go get the best coach available that's willing to take the job. They'll need to pay top dollar too because the best coaches are making serious coin now.

Was Kevin Hambly an obvious choice at Stanford? Coaches don’t telegraph their intentions for taking a different job.

Without correct pick here psu will recruit nada. There’s a prestige that goes with being Stanford grad. Psu not so much. Sure it’s a accomplishment graduating any college but Stanford and psu not the same thing

Boof has no idea what the search process involves, has no idea what possible candidates are and are not interested, has no idea what issues might be involved in negotiations, and has no idea about anything else involved in this search.
He does seem to have some enthusiasm about the search.

He does seem to have some enthusiasm about the search. Cause honestly I never cared about volleyball till psu was good. I cared about psu not volleyball. And I have far more ties to usc then psu which is why I said if they don’t pick right my apparel changes to usc. Lol. I don’t know about there volleyball but their football will be back very quickly. I have lived in Cali my whole life and only been to Pennsylvania twice in my life over 3 decades ago. My dad brought me up with the psu colors but I really have no idea why. Then I wore them so long it just became me. Prob cause dads parents grew up there but he moved here when he was 5 so who knows. And the psu thing was only about Joepa and football. It wasn’t till way later that I glanced through there sports and saw vb

Predicting success is no guarantee: Terry Pettit and english prof. Mary wise iowa state failure, russ rose 26 something nobody, dave shondell a HS junior coach etc etc etc: its a different time i know but predicting the next PSU success doesnt have to be off the Rose tree !! Because i was a great player, and an assistant at pretty successful programs isn’t a gusrantee of head coaching success: good luck to the next PSU HC whom ever. And please dont read or listen to the VT experts!!!!

Quick check shows pretty solid record 1981-84 before moving to UF in Gainesville, although no NCAA tourney and .500 record against Iowa. How is that a 'failure' in Ames?

I am flummoxed they didn’t have a plan for this. . . this is below the way Rose ran the program . . . It embarrassing for everyone. 🏐

Plans take time to implement, not to mention interviews, vetting, negotiations, candidtates evaluating offers and talking to their current schools and players. Give it a minute - absolutely no rush. Nobody is on campus, no recruiting is taking place.

Aird would be a terrible choice. If he does get interviewed I hope it's a courtesy interview and that's it. But... I also think he may be one of the candidates most likely to get the job. This is where having a lame duck AD is going to be most dangerous. I don't expect Barbour to finish out her term, and I think she expects that, as well; not a whole lot of motivation to do this right. Agreed with the comments on Katie, as well; I felt there was a decline in assistant coaching the last few years. I am flummoxed they didn’t have a plan for this. . . this is below the way Rose ran the program . . . It embarrassing for everyone. 🏐 What...?

Absolutely: but i was attempting to point out that predicting level of success because of the “playing tree” may not always be the best way: Seally to UCLA and they still haven't returned to previous championship level: Dunning and then Hambly and Illinois/byu product now too stanford: cook is California boy Div 3 assistant club coach beginnings: i dont make predictions of who should/could be next only that the PSU faithful may be blind to the person that PSU needs to carry the volleyball success for next 40 years! I seem to have “ruffled” your feathers with a non declarative commentary about the choices! Apologies to the brilliant prognosticators among you

Do you think the plan for when Rose retired was to bury heads in denial for 3 weeks, and allow players to enter the portal before announcing the retirement? Unique plan. . . a plan that might even change the landscape of B1G 🏐-a plan that increasingly is going to leave the new coach with a total rebuild . . . The delay and silence have taken away what should…could have been a great celebration and a seamless transfer to the next coach. The only hire that can save this fiasco now imo, is to hire a qualified woman. . . Someone with a successful D1 track record as a HC. . . that leaves either Collier or KBB. . . KBB’s record is longer and more complete-and she has a link to PSU on her current staff. Collier may even think if she stays at GT she will win a NC…imo, KBB has to know that will never happen at Creighton. We’ll see how it goes, but time is wasting. . . 🏐
