This was a really incredible weekend for Penn State volleyball. I'm honestly relieved for Coach Katie, the other coaches, and the players. Whatever happens now, they proved they can do it.

If you had told 2008 me that I’d be cheering on Penn State this year, I would have thrown a shoe. But alas.

When Boof1224 mentioned that Alisha Glass has won everywhere she’s gone, it reminded me that no matter how tough a match Penn State was in, whatever the score was, just seeing her there with calm determination and confidence, urging on her teammates, made me believe we could win.
Yogi Berra once said something similar about Joe DiMaggio (who was on 10 pennant winning teams, 9 World Championships, in 13 seasons). Yogi said, “If we were losing in a game, no matter how many runs behind, I’d just look out at Centerfield and see Joe DiMaggio and I knew we still had a chance”.
I think I had a similar feeling with Micha Hancock, but that had more to do with her bulldog tenacity and incredible serve.

How I wish Hancock hadn't gotten hurt... I think we *could* have won that year if she stays healthy. Not sure we knock off Texas, but I think we beat Oregon.

And no matter what, for the rest of the season, we have those 2 wins over ranked opponents, affecting our RPI and rankings. It will put the team in a different context than had we done well but not brought the Ws.

Penn State’s winning weekend has them looking (much) better in the eyes of many. No reason they cannot continue this level of play. Good team players who have incorporated the new athletes well. Good new, young coaching staff. I want to see them continue to climb the RPI! PSU remaining highly competitive is good for the B1G!!

The pre-conference record was a huge confidence builder, and then couple that with a great weekend in the Big Ten-Pac 12 challenge they are off to a good start.
