wow penn state ranked for the 505th consecutive week and have not been out of the top 25 since 1988 That is going to end this season. Sooner rather than later, too. this is also another tweet that did not age well. meanwhile nits sit at #11 and are probably making the Top10 this week..

Penn State hosts Indiana and Michigan next week in Rec Hall before heading to Wisconsin, to what will no doubt be their toughest test of the season

Penn State hosts Indiana and Michigan next week in Rec Hall before heading to Wisconsin, to what will no doubt be their toughest test of the season Not overlooking next weekend's opponents. Especially Michigan. There is typically one home game where I think they try to filter in a big crowd from a home football game, and the Michigan game might be the best/only chance for that. The only other opportunity is when both Ohio State teams visit Oct. 29th, and I'm certain that will be a night White Out game for football, so that one won't work. So there might be a big crowd against Michigan. Wisconsin will be the first raucous road environment, so will be a tough one doubly so. The only true road game this team had was @ LSU.

I think that the transfer portal really helped PSU this year, I think that the true question is in the future - can they recruit at a high level and keep kay talent. next year could be tough if Hurta and Alexa aren't the real deal as they will lose a lot of pin hitting.

Illinois is doing its part. Two more recruits coming that I know of, and we haven’t even heard from Mother McAuley yet.

Nailed it. Who is to say that next year the portal won't produce more quality players? My guess is that the portal will be more crucial than recruiting the highest ranked classes.

I think that the transfer portal really helped PSU this year, I think that the true question is in the future - can they recruit at a high level and keep kay talent. next year could be tough if Hurta and Alexa aren't the real deal as they will lose a lot of pin hitting. Nailed it. The transfer portal "helped" the totally new Penn State staff because the totally new Penn State staff was (a) really good at identifying players in the portal who could fill positions of need at a level that would enable Penn State to compete successfully, and (b) that totally new staff (starting with Coach Katie) was really good at recruiting those players. That success came even though the staff was way behind the curve, given that they weren't fully in place until the end of January 2022. There is zero, zilch, nada reason to believe that those skillsets will diminish at all after what is shaping up to be a highly successful season (making the NCAA tournament, and a top 25 ranking, though not assured, look highly likely). They now have an actual track record of success to talk about with potential recruits, so there's every reason to believe this staff will have even better success going forward. Finally, they already have shown they can recruit top prep players -- 2024 commits setter Izzy Starck and libero Ava Falduto are both among the highest-ranked players in the 2024 class. Nothing is ever guaranteed, but I think Penn State fans have every reason to be very confident about the future of Penn State Women's Volleyball.
