Down 12-11 while serving in the 5th set, MU made a blocking sub for their setter. Got a dig and had to have their Libero forearm set a high ball to the outside that got roofed. I hate blocking subs, especially that early in the 5th. She’s maybe an all American setter who has played 6 rotations for the first 4.5 sets. She’s not THAT big of a blocking liability. And if you have that big of a block on your bench they’d probably be good enough to start for you.
Overcoaching to the max. When you’ve made your serves you’ve had them out of system. Rely on that and go win a point.

Both Marquette and Creighton are hosting
Marquette will get Ball State and could face the winner of Georgia Tech-Wright State
Creighton will get Auburn and could face the winner of Houston-South Dakota.
Marquette has a tough draw with Georgia Tech.... Bergmann against Anchante's block... hopefully Marquette can serve tough enough to keep them OOS.
Creighton will like their draw. Hopefully they can get the host-bug off of their back this year lol

They didn’t like not having their setter and second best player for the match.

Not sure if this was brought up elsewhere but MU announced at Saturday's basketball game that UW will play MU on 9-13-23 at the Fiserv Forum. This, along with hosting last week, will be a trial for MU bidding on a Final Four. Great for the state if they call fill it (17k).

I question the wisdom of doing the game mid week but at least Madison isn’t too far away. Hopefully they can pack out the Fiserv.

The Fiserv will be packed...with Badger fans. MU giving away a home game and making it a road game by doing this. Smart of the Badgers to really push for this, knowing it'll be 80% in red. MU would've been smart to tell UW "we'll do this after you put your home game against us in the Kohl Center."

Creighton playing “home” games against Nebraska at CHI Health Center is nothing but a positive for that program, despite more Nebraska fans being there. Same thing here.

I also disagree (and agree with n00b ). One thing you'll find is that Marquette basketball fans who wouldn't otherwise go to volleyball will come out of the woodwork. Yes, you'll be outnumbered but if the basketball fans show up (as they do at Creighton) you'll only be outnumbered 60/40. And you can put the Marquette fans and students in the lower bowl, on tv and where their voices are closest to the action. You can do a presale to your basketball fans, giving them first dibs on seats. And bring your taraflex, videos, etc to Fiserv to make your players feel at home. Your players will have a memorable experience of a big-time atmosphere and will be better prepared for the postseason environment. Event staff will be prepared to be an F4 host. All while pocketing the increased revenue. PS. Get it off of Flo and onto FS1. This is an imperative!

Marquette basketball won't be in season, so you won't be able to advertise this at basketball games and make fans aware of it. Sure they'll do an email blast to basketball season ticket holders, but unless you're a Marquette volleyball fan people don't care about Marquette volleyball in Milwaukee. Last year they hosted Kentucky (defending national champion) at the Al and you could walk in and sit anywhere you wanted to. And that's in a 3,700 seat arena. Fiserv holds 17,000 seats, and I think something like 13,000 are lower level. Marquette volleyball fans aren't taking up 13,000 seats. It'll be like 5,000 MU fans and 12,000 Badger fans. Heck, Marquette men's basketball didn't even sell out the Fiserv for their game against #6 Baylor last week. And Marquette cares about men's basketball about 5,000,000x as much as they care about volleyball.
This is great for the Badgers. There's a reason Scheffield pushed so hard for it. A big time Marquette donor bought up all the reserved seats for the MU vs. Wisconsin game at the Al and gave them out free to Marquette fans. Easy to do when it's 2,000 lower level seats. Not so easy when it's 13,000 seats, and I don't think he'd find anywhere close to 13,000 people to show up. This turned a road game in a tough environment for Madison into a home game for Madison.
