just Carlie Cisneros and Avery Scoggins that I know of. we’ve had other recruits come on visits of course though. Of course Sydnie Vanek for 2023 but I think that’s it for that class. I’m not sure if there’s any quality 2023 recruits left but we should have the scholarships for it I believe it. Probably gonna aim for transfers with those though if I was guessing.

Sydnie reminds me of Jaelyn her freshman year. Really athletic but her defense is no bueno. Unless they get a couple of impact pin players next year, I can see her in the starting lineup.

Either way, hopefully there is some roster movement in the off season so we can get some impact transfers!

I don’t see this class immediately impacting the program. Would be nice to make a tourney again soon.

We are screwed if Kamaile doesn’t come back next year!

Well, that was a disappointing season. This team truly never found its footing, even though they have played together for three seasons.
Rubio’s coaching was incredibly frustrating this season. He never had a set lineup, and was always subbing people in and out with no real purpose and just hoping it would work. He REFUSED to give players like Dilara, Ana or even Ava playing time, knowing that inconsistent play from the pins and setting position were a major problem.
Hopefully another off season will see this team make a jump forward but I have some reservations. We definitely need a middle blocker from the portal, and if Hiapo leaves a libero. I also hope when Rubio does retire, Rita hires someone who can help elevate recruiting but also has a proven track record of developing talent.

I don't necessarily have a problem with not having a set line-up. Players may not like it, but it might be in the team's best interests.
I am concerned about so many problems on serve receive this year, which creates a chain reaction for the setter and hitters. I don't know if that's going to get fixed in the offseason or not, but I hope so. I care about these young women and I have a good relationship with Rubio. I would like to see them succeed for their sakes.

Definitely will need a DS or MB to really improve in the off season, or grab from the portal.

If Heath can work on her overall defense I think she might get some run if Rubio ALLOWS it. A 5-2 might work with Ava and Anna, but it’s pretty unconventional at this level.

Emery playing is about more than just setting. Gwen told me that she bought into what they are trying to do on offense quicker than the other two. Dave talks about her defense and blocking being superior to everyone, but she's still working on her setting being on par with everything else.
He does like Ana, and I assume she's the heir apparent. He said that she and Kamaile have the competitive fire he would like to see in Emery and the pins. He also thought that she pushes Emery to get better.
Ana was known as much for being an attacker as a setter in high school. Not sure she would have been a better choice in a 5-1 this year as a freshman. They ran a 6-2 one match, I seem to remember. Might be worth it to try for longer.
