Here's the article on preseason polls. Not sure if they're right or not. We will see, I guess, but I think things could go either way this year. I think the team has upgraded in some important areas, but it's just been so long since they played really well that I'm not going to question this until we see the Wildcats a bit. I will say that I would probably pick Wilson over Hodge as all-conference if I was voting. Jae's health may have held her back last year, but Jordan had the better season against tougher teams than they'll face in the Big 12.

Unless the cats improve their passing/defense, and lower the amount of mental mistakes, I don’t see them finishing higher than that. To be fair, I think the only clear upgrade personnel wise is Robey. Avery and Carlie are true freshman and we missed out on getting a libero via the portal. Lot of questions heading into the season.

I think 12th is about right with a lot of unknowns like Cisneros. She’s gonna be a great collegiate, just being relied upon as a freshman is a tough task for anyone. I think a big question mark is the Coach. in Interviews pretty early in this past year, she said that there wasn’t much more that she could do, that if it was gonna turn the season around, it had to come from the players. That would be tough to follow, hopefully she will stick it out a bit longer this season.

12th is too low. They will finish much higher than that. The league is so much easier than the old PAC.

They were a very young team, and in the years since we’ve had two fifth year players. Plus, Rubio didn’t really embrace NIL and where college athletics were heading as a whole. There was also a lot of roster turnover and injuries as well. I agree that 12th is fair until they prove otherwise, but there have been some unfortunate circumstances paired with poor recruiting hampering the program recently.

Having seen large chunks of her juniors/high school career up close, I have zero doubt Carlie will make an impact as soon as given the opportunity. She is a tremendous back row player and a legit consideration at libero if that’s up for grabs. But ultimately, she’s a gifted scorer and needs to play up there. Like all freshman, there’ll be some adjusting to the size and speed. But she’s already played a ton of high level, pressure packed volleyball matches against big time competition. National champion with Dynasty, Missouri state champ in high school. Girl’s a winner. (And an assassin.)

National champion with Dynasty, Missouri state champ in high school. Girl’s a winner. (And an assassin.) Carlie's opportunity will be day one. Rita said even in spring, they immediately were better with Carlie and she had to keep her out there. That's another thing in Carlie's favor. She's already been here for over 8 months. She played spring ball. She might have visited home during the summer, but I didn’t see pictures if she did. Going back to the covid thing mentioned above, I think that had a huge impact on Arizona. They had great freshmen when covid hit. Those freshmen didn't get spring ball until before their junior years. There was no postseason development for them. Then, everyone got to bring back 5th years that didn't count against them. Arizona’s only possibility was Paige Whipple whose back injury had caused her to sit out quite often. She was in too much pain, so she didn't take a 5th year. I would ask how "relevant" a couple teams above UA are if I was so inclined and it mattered. I have more sense than that, though, so I won't.

Seriously your going to Coviid how about you go all the way back to 2007 - how many seasons since then were they over .500 on the conference - somehow people have this illusion that Arizona has been this juggernaut - the truth is they have been an average to below average team for a very long time

Certainly no one who follows the program. You just make stuff up, don't you? Sounds like Dave and Rita stole your firstborn.🤣

We talked to Rita and 5 players today. I will write something later, but one thing that stood out was that Jaelyn Hodge says she is jumping and hitting. Her foot feels better. Rita said Jaelyn is practicing on both the right and left sides.

I have no expectations. kinda hope we let the pins ride 6ro if hodge is on the right and then pick the best passer for lib. prioritize the third passer being Hodge but if there’s a rotation it doesn’t work bc of the rotation set up, Wilson can handle a rotation or two hopefully. if we have two littles doing well though I’m very willing to DS Wilson or Hodge lol. just not sure we have ANY littles playing well😭

I didn't ask about littles. I will see them play on Saturday. Afterwards, I am going to ask Rita. She did say Jordan is working on it because she wants to play back row. We'll see.
