Thank you for the Lane info. I thought I had read every recruiting story and missed that one. She committed in June of 2022. It makes sense that they signed her since there are no sophomore or junior setters. If I am correct there is one more scholarship to fill. May it be for another perfect fit! Actually, a FR MB Liv Hertzog also committed. I’m not sure if she starts this year or 2024 Looks like you are right again. Hertzog graduates this year. I wonder why the school wrote up Beach, Durham and Evans, but not Lane, Hertzog or Stivrins, although Stivrins was on Instagram.

When will the 2023 non conference slate be posted? Gathering from schools that have posted their schedules: 8/25 Oregon 8/26 @ Hawaii 8/27 Northwestern (in HI) 8/31 Tennessee 9/2 Boston College (Very cool. Her daughter's team comes to town) Looks good to me. Appropriate level of challenge and no rpi drags.

USD schedules tough though so it shouldn't hurt them after the matches with Oregon, Hawaii, Tennessee and Northwestern. More just an opportunity missed to play (and beat) another big-time opponent as BYU moves out of the conference and USD needs to prove their strength of schedule to earn a proper seed being in the WCC (exhibit A: last year).

BC is not an RPI drag. They tend to schedule weak and wrack up non-conf wins. Their W/L records don’t generally hurt you. Beating BC won’t help in terms of résumé but unless they schedule harder and do really really bad in the ACC - they’re a fine team to schedule

They're a fine team to schedule and I understand why they did it, but the truth is USD is in a weaker conference and could use every ranked win they can get.

We still need five non-conference matches plus two to make up for losing BYU. Seven matches will give us the normal 28 game schedule. It seems as if most of the top teams have made their schedules, so what is left? Mid to lower rpi teams? The last teams standing in the NCAA tourney are likely to be very tall at the net. I wish they could have scheduled more top ten teams. Oregon may be the only one they could get. Maybe the coaches wanted an inexperienced team to develop chemistry before taking on the best in the final tournament?

Oops, I just cut and pasted and didn't even pay attention to that line. I corrected it in my original post. On page 27 usdfan said that USC will be a home and away. That makes 9 non-conference matches. We need at least one more to make the usual 10 non-confs. The question is will they add two extra for BYU?

Maybe they meant it would be reciprocated next year? The 4 team tourney at USC is USC, USD, Davis and Marist. All matches are listed on the USC schedule (on the Pac12 website, not on USC yet), so we know: USD vs Marist, Fri Sep 08, 4:30PM, Galen Center USD vs UCD, Sat Sep 09, 3:30PM, Galen Center USD vs USC, Sun Sep 10, 2:00PM, Galen Center

Does no one else know why USD scheduled a pre-season match with Boston College? You might check the BC roster for any clues.
