UCI defeated cal poly 4-0 in a scrimmage this morning My top picks are UH, UCSB, CP, CSULB and UCI with CSUF fighting to be in the top half. 2022 will be the most exciting season over the last few years. Go Big West!

Beach: Setter: Meyer (Fr), transfer from BYU Tia Chavira (Jr), starting setter last year, also plays Opp & Serving Opp: Kennedy (Jr) All Big West 1st Team Maura Hayes (Soph), also sub setter Chavira OH: Chacon (Grad-Sr) Florida Xfer - all around, great back-row player O'Sullivan (Grad-Sr) SDSU - All Mountain West, 0.261 on 4 kps (Kash was 0.240 on 4 kps) Nembhard (Jr) 6'1" Kansas, All Big 12 rookie Starr Williams (RS- Frosh) 6'3", looked better in spring Jordan (soph) Martinez (RS-Sr), has had injuries, 3.8kps, 0.254 in 2019 Stone (Jr.) DS: Giambi, Soph DeLaCruz, Sr Chacon, Jr, Purdue xfer Kailia Lopez, soph, 5'9" Natalie Glenn 5'10" xfer from Minn OH/DS Libero: Hoff, Jr MB: Bacon, Soph, Schwarzenbach, Gr-Sr, Nebraska Xfer probably left out a few. LB will be (ok, should be) improved at every single position; arguably some might disagree with the OH1 losing Kash, however the depth and OH2 should be better, Chacon alone brings a solid passing all-around OH2 player, and the OH1 position especially O'Sullivan can be more consistnet and thus more effective. a lot more depth in the OHs and back-row, the block will be improved, if Hildebrand can coach better receiving from this deep group of OHS and back-row players, LB could be pretty good. depth at MB probably gonna be the biggest concern, to have a back-up for a solid starting 2. it's hard to see how this mix of solid returnees, and some quality transfers doesn't challenge for a Big West title. can't believe I also left out Kailia Lopez. OH/DS, 5'9" wicked & accurate serving specialist, will be big part of serving pressure

I am wondering, if Big west Conference did not play 2020 season, but other conferences did. Do players from BWC get one or two years of covid ? Do the teams that played in 2020 get one year of covid 19? Seems like not fair for conferences that did play get an extra year, same as conferences that did not?

I'm pretty sure the waiver only applied to those who played during the spring 2021 (the delayed 2020) season. In the case of the Big West, they opted out of that season entirely, so I don't think the players on those teams get an extra year of eligibility at all. The only ones who would be would be players who transferred in from a team that did play during the spring 2021 season. Basically, the spring 2021 season was a free year of eligibility whether you played during the season or not. But every other year still counts against your eligibility like normal.

So don’t really think they were screwed.

The COVID year is old news now. Need to look forward to this upcoming year which could be a good one for the BIg West. Some ifs to the season but the upper half looks stronger this year. If Poly can get a full strength Maia back, if UCSB can replace Ennis with another good middle, if UCI can add quality to their roster beyond Umeh and Ofoegbu, if LBSU can get all their transfer pushing in the same direction, and if Hawaii can develop some of their pins into high level contributors.
