The program hasn't been promoting itself much this year, and combined with playing all non-conference on the road, it's as if they want to enter Big West as a mystery as well. Lots of key changes, as Walters goes 'stealthy' to begin the year, and keep UCLA in the dark until the first serve. It'll be interesting how Poly's backcourt starts out after the scrimaages, and the changes under wraps until opening serve. also noteworthy is that Utah State will broadcast all the matches, not just the USU matches.

I am really rooting for Maia to have a great season. She has worked hard and hope she gets back to 100% and reaches all her goals for the season… except for beating LBSU 😜

Hey jake right now I'm watching a player that transferred out of Cal Poly having a pretty good match at defensive specialist.
No I'm not talking about Peyton Dueck but Kendra Ham who transferred to Hawaii.
Looks like Hawaii is about to extend Texas A&M into 5 sets.

A lot of early season miscues,...in the first two matches. CAL POLY came out playing several new players,...particularly at the setter position. All this needs to be cleaned up in time for Monday's nite match against Utah Valley State. Maia Dvoracek and Tommi Shockham are doing what they do best. I expect their play to only get better tonite and as the season progresses. I hope coach Walters doesn't juggle the line up around so much tonite. Dueck had a very poor match,...only one dig. Her two aces were matched by POLY's Brooklyn Burns a true freshman with two aces,...too!!! |

Winless Utah Valley State (0-3) pick up their first win of the season over winless Cal Poly 3-1 (-18,+26,-21,-23).
This was a very winnable match. Cal Poly was up 21-18 in set 4 before they had a mini collapse and let UV St. finish them off on a 7-2 run.
Stockham has not lived up to her preseason team pick and was a non factor again tonight with 8 kills hitting 0.029.

Two starters DeNecochea and Khalken have not played in all three matches. One starter Hiatt is not 100%. This is putting more pressure on Dvoracek and Stockham. Stockham may be suffering from a sore shoulder. |
