I disagree on the notion of a good team this year, been around poly vball for a long time and this team is looking to fall short as they did last year. Stockham's shoulder looking weak... Seems to have lost that cannon of an arm. Injuries still slowing down Dvoracek, recovery seems to be taking it's time. Biggest issue I see this year is underperforming middles and lack of leadership I listened to the Aug 17 podcast with coach Walters. Nothing mentioned about lack of potential from Dvoracek and Stockham. So, either you have lost touch or your perception is all off. Like to know if POLY will be having a team (Green/Gold) scrimmage Sat....anyone confirm? Brought in seven new recruits,...4-L/Ds, 1-MB, 1-OH & 1-S,...the blend looks OK. How strong a class is always matter of time. Leadership???

The gloves come off in six more days.
CAL POLY going to Logan, Ut. to play a 11 AM match against the Utah State Aggies. Turn around the next day at 10 AM to play the Bruins.
Assume POLY will fly out of SLO airport Thursday for the Friday season opener.

Definitely see the possibility of some tension, but I don’t know how much Dueck is bring to the bruins besides more missed serves.

Maybe the bruins are trying to get even with CAL POLY for taking Torrey Van Widen away??? In any case, I don't think a player who is getting plenty of playing time and has no issues with the coaching staff should transfer after getting a scholarship and starts playing for that school. Coach Walters seems to have done her diligence bringing in Jolei Akima, a junior-to-be transfer from Boise State. Let's see how everything shakes out by the end of the season.

Poly is looking decent right, the starting line-up still in a bit of flux.
Dueck leaving not a big issue at this point. She wanted the glamour of UCLA, and good for her if she thinks that was best for her.

Amy Hiatt (RSoph), Kate Slack (RSoph) & Annabelle Thalken (Soph) three young ladies that got quality minutes last season return. Their level of improvement during the season may tell the tale for team CAL POLY in the end.

The duo of Dvoracek & Stockham should give POLY plenty of fire power! gopoly.com/news/2022/8/22/womens-volleyball-dvoracek-stockham-selected-to-big-west-preseason-all-conference-team.aspx

so are we really a Top 3 team? Staying healthy will be key!!! I would have thought tha UCSB would be #1, and CP and Hawaii be fighting it out for 2nd. I think UCSB have the more attacking power and more peices of the puzzle than UH or CP. CP have more power in attacking than UH, so UH have to depend on their defense. IMO

IMO Right now as the NC season prepares to get started on Friday the 26th of August all eleven conference teams need to concentrate on wins!

Is there a chance of beating UCLA? I give it a 5% chance. But it would be marvelous.
