Leah will build a winning organization!! The question is why would a coach/school/team want someone back that entered the portal for greener pastures? For one thing, she only has 8 players on the roster. Also, everyone in the portal entered for greener pastures so as far as that goes a Michigan State player would be on equal footing with the others.

So, Jake Barreau went from a job at Oklahoma to a job at Illinois State?

Leah will build a winning organization!! The question is why would a coach/school/team want someone back that entered the portal for greener pastures? Why not put yourself in the portal to hedge on your last couple years of playing when you have no idea who your new coach might be? They owe her nothing, weren't recruited by her and unless they have some love or extreme loyalty to the university they need to keep all their options open as well. I think it is pretty fair that she has to come in and recruit kids that were not her players, what if they don't like her system or coaching style, what if she doesn't like their skillset or think it will fit her system? Now the fact that she is a good coach may sway some of these kids to take their name out of the portal after speaking with her, if they were good enough to be on the roster before they are certainly good enough to play somewhere else, and you only have 8 players currently on your roster.

Well, looks like ISU will be losing a few players.

Well, looks like ISU will be losing a few players. So ISU lets her out of her contract, congratulates her in social media; and she has the gumption to take players from the school with her?

Pulling ISU players over is not going to help MSU, unless just to have depth and players right away with buy in.

Is this your first rodeo? I'm not sure if this was a question directed to me, but I imagine your daughter has stopped crying?

Without knowledge of who will be the next coach at ISU, six players are already in the portal. Is a departing staff allowed to poach their former players? Serious question.

Leah will build a winning organization!! The question is why would a coach/school/team want someone back that entered the portal for greener pastures? Why not? If the player wasn't happy with the previous set up at MSU, the new set up might be "greener pastures" like any other school. Why would the coach/school/team want them back? Because they think they're talented and will fit into the system and can benefit the team.

Why not, if they can compete at that level and want to follow her who cares? They already decided they want to play for her once.

No; players are adults and operate with their own free will. She isn't 'taking' anyone anywhere. ISU didn't "let" her out of her contract. That's not a thing. There's a preplanned buyout clause; there's no way you can prohibit someone from exiting a contract, and as a result there's no 'letting' them do anything. The buyout clause is there for a reason; and that reason was used. Pretty typical in the world of contracts. In fact, any good contract will have one built into it. Sounds like perhaps you need some better agents if you're unfamiliar with this concept.
