Her UCLA bio says she is working on a masters in Ed now. Her limited appearances could easily be explained by a nagging injury. Her sitting in the stands at the last game not so easy to explain. Could be as simple as she had a change of heart and decided she didn’t want to play a 6th year, I guess. Whatever the reason, looks like USC got the best of UCLA when it came to All-American transfers. Big reason the Bruins are looking up at SC in the standings.

I'm pretty sure it's the injury and nothing else. Alupei was shown sitting in the stands a few matches ago too. It doesn't mean they're off the team, just not healthy enough to be dressed and on the sidelines. Both are in UCLA's IG group promo for tomorrow's Team Impact match. http://instagram.com/p/CkmUCJnPzDG

Once again, forte being on the bench has very little to do with “nagging” injuries

I remember UCLA IG posting a video from the Team Impact photo shoot earlier this year. Curious to see what tomorrow brings.

ok, I'm going to put myself out there and say it-- even though this team is no where near my pre-season expectations, I have been impressed with UCLA's past two weekends. Catching up on the games on Youtube, it feels like it took them a while to find their groove. I could see them being at their peak by early December-- I don't think they will make the tournament because of all of the losses stacked up, but it would have been fun to see them try to make a post-season run.
What do we know about the recruiting landscape for the Bruins in 2023?

Agree. They had a good weekend against the Arizona schools. Trend is going in the right direction. 3 wins in a row and likely a fourth against the Bears.
I think there are four incoming recruits in 2023: Breon (OH), Briscoe (MB), Mullen (S) and Lutz (DS). First class where Keller was not involved at all in the recruiting for UCLA, I think, but could be wrong.

I still don't see why any setter would commit to UCLA. It makes no sense. Have they not seen the past 6+ seasons??

UCLA is going to be thiiiiiin in the middle next year.
Dodson (redshirt Junior) is being honored tomorrow on Senior Night, along with Savage, which means they'll have Alupei when she's healthy and freshman Briscoe for 2023. Unless they convert Olson to the middle or have a walk-on.
And yet they recruited another setter to go along with the three (Pak, Lane, Tufono) they already have. Wonder if Pak or Lane stick around for another year.
Time to hit that transfer portal for some middles to go along with the setter Sealy will no doubt be getting!

Got me thinking. Is it possible Bruins won’t have a scholarship available to go after a graduate transfer setter . . .
If there are no transfer portal defections (I worry Luper is going to frown on a rebuild) there could be 4 scholarships on the pins, 2 in the middle, 2 at setter and 2 in the back row.
That leaves 2. With Alupei coming off injury, don’t you have to spend both strengthening the middle? They played 5 in the middle this year.
No idea if above scholarship counts are correct (maybe there are 3 setters or only 1 back row), but could mean Mullen or Tufono or both are setting next season.

Going to miss Dodson and McCall. Two great competitors. Don’t mean as a slight to the other 3 seniors . . . Those two just left more of themselves out there on the Court over the past couple years.
But back to last nights game . . . Bruins passed well. At least well enough for Dodson to have almost 30 attacks . . . Why Luper only 15? As simple as the Stanford block??
