I feel like it would only be a recruiting issue if they only offered perks to specific clubs they know they are looking to recruit from (Sunshine, Tstreet, etc) but if they did what a lot of men’s programs do which is offer deals/packages for all local clubs to bring their players out to certain games then I don’t see the issue. I just hope it’s not a mindset of “We’re UCLA of course they should come to our games “ because that’s incredible idiotic, you have to make it an incentive for this parents and a good time for these kids or they will be perfectly fine watching highlights on Instagram lol A decent number of the better clubs in the SoCal basin are pretty far from the UCLA campus. I can see making the drive for a Sunday afternoon match, but any weekday match sounds impractical. I just Google mapped tstreet to the UCLA campus. an hour and a half drive, and it’s barely 4pm. Sunshine is probably the best club close to UCLA and Mizuno LB is second…. But both LA schools raid those programs already for recruits so other than bolstering fan attendance, I don’t know what gain the programs would achieve from making direct efforts to get those clubs to the games consistently. Yes, some clubs are farther away from UCLA, but my criticism is that there are many programs that should be actively trying to get kids involved, not just trying to recruit. CSUN, LMU, Pepperdine, CSUF, CSULB, SDSU, USD, UCSD, UCI, USC, CSUSB, CSUSM, Point Loma, Concordia, and a plethora of others. I have not seen much of an effort made over the last 12 years of being part of the Club scene to promote the sport that way.

No that’s what I’m saying, I doubt that there is any direct contact with just the clubs they recruit out of but for the sake of creating a real fanbase I think it would be worth reaching out to mid tier and low end clubs. Whether it’s getting drastically cheaper group tickets, gear giveaways, post/pre game autographs, etc. I think it’s worth it. Not only to improve Fan attendance but to feed into more of the future possibilities that the NIL can bring for recruits. Eventually that’ll be more of a factor but right now there are like 2-3 schools that are actually making an impact in that regards when it comes to women’s volleyball. A portion of the collegiate season overlaps with the HS season as well so that’s worth tapping into as well. Can’t hope for much if the bulk of your crowd are parents, drunk low volleyball IQ students, and Volleytalk people lol I suppose. but, if both schools can keep most of the local talent close to home AND recruit elite players from out of state, even with a less than stellar fanbase and less than stellar on court results, I suppose it doesn't really matter. Not that I'm jealous or anything (note the sarcasm), but it's crazy to me that a program like UCLA, who barely even makes regionals these days, can still be the landing spot for elite out of state recruits and high profile transfers. UCLA is a fantastic school and community to be a part of in the first place so that helps A TON. I wish UCLA had the Hawaii faithful of fans or Hawaii had the academic draw of UCLA then I could have double reasons to be excited each season vs being painfully disappointed lol

I'm looking forward to seeing a healthy Luper play a full season. I just love watching athletic undersized hitters play.

Will this finally be the year UCLA gets to the final 4? They have the talent,(they have had the talent), but can The "coach" let them make the final 4?

Please take the Mike Sealy pledge with me while raising your right hand: "I promise to support the Bruins through bad substitutions, head scratching starting lineups, late timeouts, or no timeouts, so help me god."Now take your raised right hand and give yourself a good hard slap across the face.

What’s sad is that their is so little depth in UCLA volleyball fan knowledge that the extent of conversation in this thread starts and stops with disparaging Sealy.
Like is there really nothing else you can talk about?

Like is there really nothing else you can talk about? So little depth because we can't keep track of all of the players coming and going every year? Main question for this season other than the typical Setter carousel: Is Luper ready to fill the shoes of May?

There should be no questions about the setter this upcoming season right?? The only thing I could imagine would be if Marlie decides to hop back to indoor again lol
