I thought he played on the US youth team at one point Wouldn't he need a formal 2 yr sitting out period AFTER he decided to switch federations? He did play with Puerto Rico before, then trained with US but I guess never switched. You can't indeed switch twice

I don’t know if anyone mentioned yet but Stahl is not on the WCH wide roster Massive bummer. That means one of Mitchem and Gasman will make the WCH roster. I’d be shocked if Gasman makes the roster. Mitchem has gotten all the opportunities

Or just three MBs ( Averill) and take Kyle Russell or Jake Hanes

The roster will probably be something like this
S: Christenson, Tuaniga OPP: Anderson, Ensing, K. Russell OH: DeFalco, A. Russell, Muagututia MB: Smith, Jendryk, Mitchem, Averill L: Shoji, Dagostino
The only other player I see them maybe taking is Kessel, but I don’t think he adds much value.

There is no way they are taking 3 outsides, 3 opps, and 4 middles. You've got to have a 4th outside. I know Anderson is versatile but as we saw in the final matches of Val, Anderson is needed at opp. We don't need two bench warmers behind him.

I said Kessel might have a shot but the list I gave is what I personally think is the best lineup. Also, in 2018 unless I’m reading it wrong, they literally took 3 outsides, 5 middles, and 2 opposites. So……

My point is that I’m not convinced about Kessel’s value as a fourth OH.

Some lament the 12-player roster at OG, while I don’t think 14 players are needed. How about just make it 13, FIVB? Odd number I know. The fourth MB is almost never needed. Can anyone here name the 4th MB of France, Brazil, Poland and Italy?

Even the not so used middle are very effective. The same can't be said with France. If something happens to Chinenyeze and Le Goff, France is doom. Their back up middles are just not that good. Brazil on the other hand is different because France's back middles lacks in skills, while the new middles doesn't have much connection with the current starters. Two different things.
