K Russell or Hanes. Pick one, I don’t mind. 3 MBs and 3 OPPs. Some lament the 12-player roster at OG, while I don’t think 14 players are needed. How about just make it 13, FIVB? Odd number I know. The fourth MB is almost never needed. Can anyone here name the 4th MB of France, Brazil, Poland and Italy? Poland have the strongest middle. Even the not so used middle are very effective. The same can't be said with France. If something happens to Chinenyeze and Le Goff, France is doom. Their back up middles are just not that good. Brazil on the other hand is different because France's back middles lacks in skills, while the new middles doesn't have much connection with the current starters. Two different things. But Poland seems not to rely on middles a lot compared with other countries(France, USA, etc.). It is true that they have Leon and Kurek so they may not need middles to attack a lot. Also, Poland's middles 's blocking ability seem not very good(compared with France and other good blocking team). I feel like since Leon comes, the block-defense system does not form very well.

I mean they won a medal lol. My point is that I’m not convinced about Kessel’s value as a fourth OH. You know who would bring value as a 4th OH but can't get his body to cooperate?? (Yes, I'll let it go. One day. Not today though!) the original bae

I think their reliance to the middle is similar to the other countries. Bieniek and Kochanowski are pretty stable. Poland's problem right now is the consistency of their OH. Sliwka was just not doing it for them. Semeniuk is the only stable one.

Hmm, we’ll see. I said Kessel might have a shot but the list I gave is what I personally think is the best lineup. Also, in 2018 unless I’m reading it wrong, they literally took 3 outsides, 5 middles, and 2 opposites. So…… How did that work out for them? If you take out that 5th set against Poland, then the 2018 World Championships went well for the USA. That was an odd situation because Jaeschke blew out his ACL earlier in the summer, and Garrett had an odd season leading up to it (he didn't have a contract until the end of the December and wasn't used in VNL). DeFalco was the only other OH steadily on the roster throughout the VNL, and he was back at LBSU during the WCh. So they only took Sander, Russell, and Langlois. During matches when they rested their starters, McDonnell played OH.

It was only one meaningless game against Iran in the end of the second round, but still a rare example of MB playing OH in international volleyball

So Mitchem and Averill are going, so is Muagututia, so the last cut is K Russell or Cody Kessell

So Mitchem and Averill are going, so is Muagututia, so the last cut is K Russell or Cody Kessell Likely K. Russell based on social media footage. Defalco has been shown playing OPP while Anderson OH, so that makes me think we'll see Kessell heading to Worlds as the 4th OH - assuming Anderson/Defalco are options to switch roles, then it doesn't make much sense to bring a 3rd OPP in K. Russell.

In a lot of the clips Matt is playing position 1/2, and TJ is in positions 6/4 a lot. Don’t know for sure tho

Briggs over Dagostino?
I’m digging (pun intended) the development of the younger liberos for when Shoji decides to move on. It’ll be a tough position to fill but I like the future we’re investing in.
