IU leading the B1G in aces now...they only had 13 vs. Wisconsin today. We met a 2024 IU recruit who sat in front of us for the match: OH Morgan Jones, Crystal Lake (Illinois) South HS. She and her mom were glad to see the Hoosiers take a set from the Badgers.

I like the beginnings of a cohesive team in the Hoosiers, especially for next year.
Saris, Geddes, Kjolhede, Haworth, Lopez, Alonso-Corcelles all return. They lose Cerame and Rammelsberg.
1) Will they lose anyone to the portal?
2) Will any strong transfers be willing to come to IU and make them better?
3) Will Aird keep his job?

I have been impressed by the Hoosiers this season. Much more so than in a long time. Their high-risk high-reward strategy of swinging for the fences from the serving line and at the net can be pretty hard to beat when it clicks. I like the scrappy defense. All the players can scoot across the floor. They having a fighting attitude. I’m a fan of Haworth. She reminds me more than a little bit of Taylor Hughes.
That said, they are not going to move up beyond where they are in the B1G while erroring as much as they do. They’ll need to rein that in. They’ll need to improve the rest of their game - make that a more stable base to build on.

Indiana takes on Penn State tonight at Wilkinson Hall in Bloomington.
While I'm not sure the Hoosiers can pull it off, I expect it to be competitive.

Here we are.
Record: 16-16, 9-11 B10
* Most B10 wins since 2010 (Ashley Benson's senior year, and also the first time IU made the Sweet 16. Unfortunately, 9-11 with a poor preseason wasn't good enough for tourney selection)
* Camryn Haworth, Sophomore setter, a National Player of the Week and First Team All B10, 10 double doubles and 1 triple double (against Northwestern)
* Paula Cerame, over 500 digs this season
* Strong serving team (best performance? AT #3 Wisconsin, with 13 aces, 6 for Haworth... showing strength in a hostile environment)
* Mady Saris, Morgan Geddes and Savannah Kjolhede all return
*Candela Alonso-Corcelles, FR, really picked it up at the end of the season after struggling in early season
*First road win over a top 5 opponent (Ohio State)
In the B10 thread prior to the season, IU was picked last by the fans, and very near the bottom (maybe last?) by the coaches. After some MAJOR hubbub in the offseason, Aird keeps his job and retains a pretty strong group of players.
Indiana returns everyone BUT Cerame for 2023. Isa Lopez seems like the next L for the Hoosiers. With Haworth and Saris leading the way (and Geddes definitely on the way up), I am honestly excited for the first time for an upcoming Indiana season.
Aird, keep it together.

I was happy to see Cerame's IG goodbye post to volleyball and IU be full of positivity and happiness for her time spent there. Maybe something has clicked within the program, players and staff.
I wonder if Aird will go to the portal? Maybe a RS and some backup middles?

Indiana gets Northeastern University transfer setter, Natalia Hagopian (Laguna Beach CA). Since Fitzner graduated, there is no backup setter to Haworth for '23.

Ramsey Gary really impressed me at the UA match, especially serve receive. It’s easy to be overshadowed as a libero and even up against Choboy but she held her own. With Cerame graduating I think she’ll fill in her shoes nicely, good get for the Hoosiers!
