Funny, holiday claims I'm an expert on gender identity/sexuality (even though I've never said that). Then he says that it's perfectly *common sense*, so, I guess HE is the expert now? Anyways, like I mentioned to n00b, who seems to be in agreeance, the point is that she mentioned sexuality and identity. So, I think a reasonable assumption is she meant that people should not declare their sexuality until 21. Now you’re dragging noob Into your debate to try to make it seem more presentable? Sorry, not buying it No. You asked a question in your previous post about why one might think it was not just limited to gender reassignment. That was answered in my response to n00b's point earlier. Which makes me think (since you kept asking for an official tweet that was already posted) you probably didn't even read the whole thread. Since you probably won't even go back and re-read that, the point is that she could have made it more clear by specifically mentioning transitioning/reassignment/surgery. She did not. She said sexuality AND identity (as this has been mentioned by multiple posters now). |

So you assumed the worst because she’s your political foe right? I don’t think what I assumed was the worst. I think it was quite reasonable based on her specific verbiage. It’s certainly plausible. Don’t project yourself onto others re: political foe. I don’t like to overgeneralize beliefs based on party affiliation, even though this may be to my own detriment. |

I know that if that’s all you have is that vague tweet then you better keep your mouth shut because you have no idea of the details of what she means. I’m just responding to what she said… she added sexuality to HER statement. It’s not cryptic nor complicated. She’s saying you should be 21 to be mature enough to make decisions about sexuality and identity. It’s also funny that you say we have no idea of what she means, but apparently you do. I would argue that losing your ability to procreate is related to sexuality. That's kinda the point. It becomes about more than how you identify when you start implementing irreversible medical interventions. Boebert hasn't earned the benefit of the doubt, so I don't know what she means. But I don't think issues of 'sexuality' would be limited to 'coming out'. |

There are straight people who cannot procreate and lgbtq people who can and do. I thought it was about who you’re attracted to. |

Again, I was having issues with my internet access (was stuck with low-speed cellular data on a phone). But I finally got halfway decent access and was able to look up the actual tweet. Many it's a doozy on so many different levels. And just in case she deletes it: We require people to be 21 to purchase alcohol beverages, and 21 to purchase tobacco products.
Why is it so unreasonable to require people to reach a certain level of maturity before making life-altering decisions about their sexuality and identity?So she actually believe this. Not only that one shouldn't come out, but that it's somehow wrong to make decisions about one's own sexuality before turning 21. So exactly what does that mean really? One can't date? Or anyone with thoughts of same-sex attraction have to report it and then have those feelings wiped by hypnosis until they turn 21? Or does this mean everyone? So sex should be illegal before age 21 on the basis that people don't have the maturity to understand that they're making a life-altering decision. Or maybe marriage can't be legal until all parties are 21? This is just bizarre thinking. I'm annoyed that she claims it's a "decision". How many cis-hetero people think it was a "decision" for them to be who they are? Why do they think it is a "decision" for other people? |
