Saw this. A little frustrating to listen to. These two obviously have no clue about the sport of volleyball, and Hawaii mens volleyball in general. Having said that, I would imagine this was a show they “had to” do. For 30 plus minutes of having to push through something you do not want to do is quite commendable. Thanks for saving me 30 mins of my life No problem. Just wasted 15 minutes of mine.

I didn't get the sense this was a slog for them. They had a good energy level and rapport with each other throughout. Kyle Chinen is HNN's sports reporter who regularly covers the team, so he was somewhat knowledgeable at least. Kyle's persona on here was the same as his news segments, light and upbeat. The other guy is more their digital content creator, so he was acting more like a moderator. It sounds like Kyle will be traveling to Fairfax to cover the tournament. The digital content guy will not be on this trip, but he mentioned going to the final four last year. I think for the devoted fan, this might not have revealed anything new. But I thought it was some nice coverage for the team. If there was room to improve, a guest would have been good, maybe coach Wade or a player. Although they did have some stock clips fron Thelle, at least.

They have covered the UH mens team for the past two to three seasons and that seems to be their entire basis of their Hawaii mens volleyball knowledge. Hearing them talk about 2018 being a “drop off year,” or the fact that Hawaii is going for a rare championship three-peat… even though there were a lot of four peats or something to that extent, etc. etc. was annoying to listen to. It reminded me of past ESPN announcers who used to call the play by play for the FF, who knew nothing about the sport.

Guilty of crimes such as saying "Thelle" similar to "olé!" & calling blocks "deflections"

Full post: www.cindyluis.com/2023/04/28/mvb-warrior-sendoff-monday-behind-arena-beachbows-await-selection-sunday/ Long flight. Uncomfortable for the tall ones No kidding, I don’t know how they fit those long legs in coach class. Assign the taller ones to the bulk head seats is all I can think of. Can’t wait til Thursday, hope we get the Buckeyes!

That I can agree, but I suspect few in the media can match the vb history/knowledge that many of the long-time devoted fans (like you) will have. Haha! What I did appreciate was extending coverage into some new media. Few teams will have a whole podcast dedicated to them. If the podcast persuades a casual fan to tune in to the tourney matches, that's a good thing.

Brother, Erik is current National team libero. Dad was UH womens coach for 217 years. Sorry I never followed hawaii high school volleyball nor pro volleyball. I was probably too young when he played at Stanford. What year he played at Stanford? I know Dave Shoji, the legendary former coach of UH women’s volleyball team.
