More than likely redshirt, think Wade is sticking to the plan of having the B1 & B2 teams being majority developing underclassmen. I wonder if we see Todd back in the middle for depth or bigger roles for other guys like Thiim who were very hyped up but I never understood why.. Not sure if you attend the games or not but if you do come early and watch the team warm up you will see why Thim is spoken so highly of. They guy has mad hops and a cannon for an arm. If you're commenting on him as a serving sub, if you watch him in practice/warm ups he rarely misses. He's Jacob Thelle like in practice when he serves. IMHO Charlie is trying to get him as many reps at serving sub hoping he gets over the mental block of being in the spotlight so he can serve like he does in practice - which is lights out..... Yeah you can't really teach the physical tools that Thiim obviously has. Will he ever get it together to be a major contributor? Who knows. But we have several years to find out. It's obvious to see why the coaching staff is excited about him--those are the types of players who gets coaches excited. (I.e. physical tools but needs some coaching to be a big time player--and they love to coach)

I posted this recruit prospect over at the Hawaii 2022 area, now I'm bring it over here to see what you guys think about this kid, and should Hawaii go after him His name is Cole Hartke and he's from Barrington, IL. His club volleyball is Pipeline club volleyball 17-1 B in PALATINE, IL, and so far his recruiting process is still in the early stages, probably because he's still a Sophomore in high school. Has been getting looks by the U17 National team, really hope Hawaii can get in early on this prospects recruiting trail. www.hudl.com/profile/13778389/Cole-Hartke/aboutusavolleyball.org/play/national-team-development-program/indoor-ntdp/indoor-ntdp-training-series/2021-winter-training-series-rosters-boys/ The volleyball club he's a part of pipelinevolleyball.club/171 Edit: Latest highlights has him at 6'11, and his highlights are pretty impressive, check him out

I say this with respect, but is there any point in posting prospective recruits that have no official UH offer or on their recruiting list? Just seems like speculation.

I do like the effort but if UH isn't actively recruiting any of these guys then this thread will turn into something like what's happening on the wahine thread. All kinds of names of transfer and wish lists. It reeks of desperation tbh.

I'm glad all of this year's players are returning. Hopes of a 3-Peat for the National championship is possible. However, no more Josh Walker next season. 😢 Jakob Thelle mentioned Josh scouts and plans everything. I guess we'll see how his absence affects the 2023 team. Hopefully the new assistant coach will be as good and the team continue its winning ways.

I’ll take your word for it. I know there was a long line in wait to play on the pin and he did get a couple chances to swing out of the backrow which I remember being solid, just wondering if his overall gameplay can ever factor in at the level necessary to be more than a serving sub. I assume his early eligibility being spent at a CC was probably do to grades and/or physicality coming out of high school? I have seen him in warm ups but probably not much of a sample size to really “notice” him. IMHO because we are loaded at the pins, Thim will have a hard time seeing the court in anything other than serving sub an/or mop up duties against lesser teams. Don't see him beating out any of our starting pin hitters for the foreseeable future....

Tbh I think Wade and staff aren’t even actively going after anyone unless they are foreigners as they know Top Recruits will reach out first. If there was any major recruiting that needed to be done on a major mainland recruit, Hawaii should have gone all in trying to get Nico Iameleava as a dual sport athlete, but idk how much either program was committed towards making it a possibility before Tennessee came and dumped their entire purse out for him. Tbh idk what the goal is recruiting wise for mainland athletes anymore. Kai Taylor is from a solid club but idk, watching film he’s a very underwhelming pin hitters compared to who is on the Roster currently. Wonder if his commit was more him wanting to come to Hawaii vs the staff seeking him out. Maybe his game has become more dynamic since I last saw but eh, idk… Either way, doubt anyone new breaks the starting lineup anywhere besides relieving the middles or getting some reps setting wise. Pins will probably be the same rotation unless someone can outwork Humler, or Chaz and Dimi don’t get as significantly stronger over the off season.

I know they compared him to Colton Cowell because of similar stature and what not but Cowell was remarkably humble during is rise…Thiim……😅😅😅😅

I think Thiim might be a shoe in for one of those outside spots in 2025, if he uses his covid year. Of course, this all depends on mostly what his passing looks like. EDIT: Don't quote me in the shoe-in part. I believe he can get there. That serve will be hard to leave off the court and the more opportunities back there the better. BIO looks like he didn't play in 2021 aka redshirted? ?. Attended Santa Barbara Community College for two years Played one year and appeared in 10 matches in the 2020 season averaging 2.82 kills per set, hitting .275 Also averaged 1.33 digs per set and tallied 12 service aces Season-highs of 21 kills (.436) and 10 digs against El Camino

What I hope doesn't happen is that this thread turns out exactly like the Wahine one. People throw out all these recruits, transfers and wish lists and then they don't pan out or we find out the players didn't even consider Hawaii as a choice. So all this talk about these folks and they don't even come. Lol That's what I hope doesn't happen here. Koavb usually has the inside scoops and will throw us a bunch of hints on whom we are after. We should go from there. Or any leaks from within the dept. Lmao. Just a thought. The wahine thread just became a whole clusterf**k of all kinds of stupid stuff in the end.

Is Kai Rodrigues 2023 or 2024?
What's the info on him? Highly recruited, US Junior team, etc?
