I hope South Dakota wins the tournament, for kiyoat and the fact that they won the regular season by being the most consistently good team.

I hope Omaha wins the tournament, for Matt Buttermore, and the fact they won the regular season last year and then lost to USD in the Summit tournament.

Will only the tournament winner get a bid or does South Dakota have a chance without winning?

Will only the tournament winner get a bid or does South Dakota have a chance without winning? They’re #49 in RPI so they’d likely be out. Plus they have no top 50 wins

I'm hoping NDSU wins. But I don't really care.
That said, major props to kiyoat for keeping this thread going.
The posts have been great and it's an easy way to keep up on what's going on in the Summit.

Another reason is that Omaha has never qualified for the NCAA volleyball tournament before in Div 1 and doing it on their home court would be great.

Obviously I want the Yotes to win, but what I’m really excited for is the fact that the league has improved to the point of having six very competitive teams in this conference tournament. The next step is to translate that into non-conference wins, so the collective RPI improves. And I’m pretty happy we won the regular season. Being able to host next year is huge.

If Omaha doesn't win the tournament, then I hope it's South Dakota partly because I think there's a chance that the Yotes might not have to play the host school in the first round of the NCAA tourney and partly for Kiyoat. It would be nice to see a Summit League school advance past the first round.

I hope that the Summit has some teams in the NIVC this year. It’s a great opportunity to extend your season. I still don’t understand why Omaha’s admin decided not to pursue it last year. That team was a killer with Sadie Limback at RS and Mountjoy at DS. Would have won a few matches. Maybe all of them.

I thought about making a thread about that tournament, but decided to at least wait a couple days (because I'm superstitious). Unfortunately, I'm sure any such thread will have to suffer through party poopers who do nothing but rain on the parade.

The Big West is looking like a one bid league, but the top 4 teams have a lot of talent, and The Summit League could say the same as well. Throw in some teams that won their leagues but got upset in league tournaments, and it could be pretty compelling. I would actually do Summit League semis over Big East if I were a neutral fan in Omaha.

Yeah, I don’t get it either, but I suppose I’m looking at it from a mid-majors perspective. Getting to the finals on our home court and bringing in GA Tech allowed us to break an attendance record back in 2019. I’d be willing to guess there were a good number of volleyball first-timers in that crowd. For us it helped grow the program. But it does end up costing money in bids for hosting. From another perspective you could say it’s a tournament filled with jilted teams with chips on their shoulders and something to prove. That's compelling too, I think. Oh well. Some will always turn up their noses at it.

However, for season ticket holders, Creighton's season tickets include admission to the Big East Tournament, while Omaha's do not. Summit League Tournament matches are an extra $15 per ticket per day (or an all-tournament pass of $41).

I have to say I’m shocked Tupac didn’t win COY. I suppose he probably needed to win more down the stretch. Can’t say the voting was biased, since it is the coaches who voted.
I won’t disagree that Coach Williamson is awesome. I just assumed that when you are picked in the top-2, a championship was less impressive than going from winless to 6th in year 1. What do I know?
